it happened near 40th and adaline. it is unclear what caused the woman to veer off the roadway. they think the same car caused another crash in oakland minutes earlier. >>> mayor libby schaaf is promising an investigation in the first officer involved shooting in oakland in two years. it started when police found a man passed out in his car with a gun. >> hands on the drivers side window. >> reporter: around 7:30 saturday morning and this 580 off ramp near lake merritt shut down. >> police have their guns drawn. >> reporter: a standoff began. a long one. for an hour and ten minutes, they ordered the man to put down the weapon. it was this chrome pistol fully loaded. one officer fired his tazer at the man in the bmw. the second officer fired his gun. the man later died at the hospital. >> we are interviewing the officers involved as well as reviewing the footage from the body worn cameras. >> reporter: opd ran the car's plate and says it is the same bmw from a burglary in san francisco where the suspect got away. >> unable to confirm at this point if it is the same suspect or not

it happened 9:15 yesterday morning at 40th and adaline streets.ice say she crashed into an apartment building and died at the scene. no one else was hurt. investigators are trying to find out why it did this. >> they got her out of the car. >> reporter: emeryville police are trying to determine if the same car may have been in a separate accident moments earlier on 40th street in oaklands. the coroner hasn't yet released the name of the woman killed. >>> chp says a simple left turn on a country road near the byron airport led to a horrific crash that killed two people including a 89-year-olds woman. investigators say the driver of a ford suv was slowing down to make a left into a private driveway yesterday but the 24- year-old driver of the dodge ram tried to pass the ford on the left side. the two vehicles then collided. >> the pickup truck subsequently lost control, collided with a wooden post, further caused it to get out of control and rolled down the embankment and into the field. >> two passengers killed, the 89-year-old woman and 41-year- o
