adalja: definitely.u look at the way the cdc guidance has changed and their messaging, first, they undersold the vaccine and then they moved quickly and people did not understand where that came from. i supported the guidance that fully vaccinated people needed to wear masks and then they changed it again based on a study done in massachusetts, which is not applicable to the everyday life of vaccinated people. this messaging goes back and forth where people are unclear what the actual truth of the message is, especially in misinformation that they have on social media. all of that makes it hard for the average person to actually trust public health authorities. this is a major problem that will have cascading impacts past covid-19, that the public health communication strategy is something that really was flawed and something that made our ability to respond to this pandemic much worse. jonathon: should we be looking to the u.k.? is that a decent template? dr. adalja: we should be looking at the u.k. bec

amesh adalja. thank you for being here. booster and the efficacy of the moderna versus pfizer? >> so when it comes to booster vaccinations, i think there may be a point down the line when we need boosters but right now at the six month or eight month interval there's no evidence that the vaccines are eroding the ability to prevent what matters, protection against serious disease, hospitalization or death. when you go to the hospital, it is unvaccinated people that are being hospitalized. that's always been the goal of the the vaccines. there 345eu be a time when we -- may be a time when we need to do this. it's important to study and be proactive. i don't think the six month and eight month trigger for the general public has enough data to support it. the difference between moderna and pfizer vaccines probably have to do with doses. the pfizer is a lower dose than moderna. both vaccines are holding up really well. there's no evidence that the pfizer vaccine, that we're seeing any difference in the outcome that matters and t
