live from trenton but first let's get the latest information from accuweather and meteorologist adam joseph. adam we didn't hit 1 degree in philadelphia but we came about as close as possible. >> yeahing we came within that 1 degree and despite it was not a record in philadelphia, we hit two this morning and it was the coldest start to a philadelphia morning in 21 years. you have to go back to january 20th of 1994 to have a temperature at least this cold. that record of one was set back in 1979. there are other areas that did break records, smashed in it trenton and wilmington, dover set a new record this morning of 2 degrees. allentown wasn't a record. they missed it by 1 degree but still brutal at one below this morning and atlantic city 1 degree. the morning wind chills, they ranged anywhere from 15 below at the shore to as much as 22 degrees below zero in reading and right now our wind chill is still near 0 degrees across the area. double scan live radar will show there's a warm front down to the south bringing a mix of sleet and snow for nashville even some snow for atlanta. all of thi

i'll bring in meteorologist adam joseph who has the latest on the timing with this storm system. adam. >> yeah, we have a few hours to get out and do errands before the snow starts to fall. right now we have that mix to the south. we got snow to the north so it's an easy forecast with the cold temperatures saying yes it's going to be all snow no matter where you are. by 10:30 tonight that's when it punctures south and west of philadelphia, southern new jersey delaware, the western suburbs of philadelphia and then overspills areas near trenton by about midnight and then 6 o'clock in the morning as the low is developing it pushes to the south. that's when we see the heaviest burst of snow especially along the shore communities you see these darker colors here, the lighter the color on future tracker the less intense the snow is and this is an upside down storm for our region. meaning that the least amount of snow is going to fall north and west of philadelphia. that is where we have winter weather advisories in place anywhere in the pink you can see most of southern new jersey dela

annie mccormick is live in setter city and meteorologist adam joseph and melissa magee have been tracking the system all day long. we begin with melissa over at the big board to find out what we can expect in the hours to come. melissa. >> walter, you can see on stormtracker 6 double scan radar we're dealing with varying kinds of precipitation across the delaware and lehigh valley. to north and west for poconos down to lancaster we have snow. but a large chunk of our region along the 95 corridor and immediate suburbs 25 miles west and also east we're dealing with frozen precipitation. and rain starting to mix in from surf city, atlantic city, and cape may. we'll go in tighter on street-level with stromtracker. if you travel along the i-95 corridor trenton to philadelphia and wilmington we're dealing with frozen precipitation getting a lot of reports of freezing rain or isa cross the area. and also, if you travel on i-76 north and east of norristown we have frozen precip along the jersey turnpike. glassboro, elsmere. wrightstown affected with the frozen precipitation. now chester of light

. >> meteorologist adam joseph and melissa magee are tracking the system. we will begin with melissa. what are we looking at. >> we are track ago this snow and mixed precipitation across the midwest eastward into the east coast. this is a storm system on the way. storm tracker six live double scan radar showing light snow fall across central pennsylvania and steady know picking up across western pennsylvania and just to the north of i80 but we will widen out picture here and area of low pressure is over southern illinois and indiana. to the north we have the the snow. if you follow that up, and over, we have a snow line breaking out along i80 just to the north of the pennsylvania turnpike. so that will be where you will find a significant snowfall. to the south of that line however, all of that moisture coming from the south and that is where that warmer ale will mix in with the system. that area of low system will track to the areas north of philadelphia, and because of that winter storm warning that has been posted for poconos, down to easton, allentown,

i will bring in meteorologist adam joseph with the very latest on this. >> adam has more on that and what we can expect, adam. >> yes that visibility dropping where we are seeing heavier snow a along i-95, 1 mile visibility in wilmington. near half mile visibility in the city of philadelphia, at a half mile in reading. but looking to the south notice wildwood, dover near eight to 10-mile visibility. as we are starting to mix that snow with some sleet and even some freezing rain, at times visability are improving a little bit but that arctic air, it is not moving. we're still in the mid 20's. that snow is light fluffy and light and puffy snow can pile up quicker then it would be wet and heavy because it doesn't compact when ate cumulating on top of one another. that snow pack road, they are a mess. they will continue to be over next few hours with that poor visibility. the it is very slick. the it is very slow. even on the major roadways. coming in myself i have seen so many people with rear wheel drive that cannot get up a hill. they block traffic. there is a lot of cars on the road
