adam klotz and the weather center. good morning, adam. reporter: hey, guys.ringing the bad news is winter continues to linger. look at early morning temperatures. 17 degrees, but the holder has settled in. currently 40 degrees in atlanta to 35 degrees in new york city. cold air in place. how many does the moisture to move in and it's on the way. a lot of rain today across portions of northern california up across the pacific northwest. the energy sweeping across the country and as it runs into colder air come to some of this will transform into a bit of a wintry mix in the northern tears of the country as it sweeps across and make it going into friday, saturday. we will be starting to see some snow falling in places or maybe you typically don't see it. this is our potential snowfall through the ohio river valley into the mid-atlantic on saturday. new york city two to three inches of snow. it is april and we are over it. connell: totally. lauren: so over it. we are not looking you anymore. >> that's fine. i don't want any more snow either. a lot more coming up

brian: jillian left us but adam klotz has not.o be cold, continuing track snow in portions of country. a big storm system sweeping towards the east coast caused a lot of severe damage across the midwest. here is our future forecast. this is rushing you along the atlantic, mid-atlantic could see severe weather, most of this happening before lunchtime then into the early afternoon hours. you do notice the back side of this system is clear. we're clearing off bit evening hours. if you're on the east coast being affected by this, know that it is clearing behind it. look behind it. these are the current temperatures. minneapolis, there you go, pete, down into single digits. a lot of spots in the 20s, closer to freezing. it is cold on back side of this system unfortunately. there are spots out there that feel like spring but new york city is not one of those spots that will feel like spring. back out here it is going to be cold, cold next couple days. guys we could see snow, snow on thursday night or friday night. ainsley: again? >> i k

adam klotz in the weather center with the latest. >> first off, we are seeing spring-like weather, wither, certainly big thunderstorms across the plain states stretching further south, that's where you see more heat. we could see severe weather this afternoon running into overnight hours, targeting area around dallas, texas, sports in northern louisiana, severe weather all running into the warmer air. isolated tornadoes is possible. otherwise pretty big thunderstorms sweeping across the region. next couple of days, eric, yeah, final yes, we have seen warm temperatures off and on but never so widespread, we are looking spots for sunday high getting into the middle 60's in the middle of the country and other spots closer to 80's. warm up and down the east coast. not just sunday but stick around for a little while as temperatures hoovering in the 60's, on monday and tuesday, very comfortable air here that's going to be sticking with us in the next couple of days, eric. eric: good news, the meteor shower. >> any cloud cover you will see there, unfortunately it'll block it for you, we are lo
