meteorologist adam klotz has the latest forecast. adam? hey, jon, yeah, two tropical storms about to be in the gulf of mexico. one already knocking on the door of louisiana, likely making landfall by tomorrow afternoon. there it is, hurricane marco, winds at 75 miles-an-hour. really conditions will deteriorate overnight tonight as we're starting to see some outer bands of rain move up along some coastal communities stretching back to the florida panhandle. now this system looks as though it is going to run right along the coast scraping the coast, bringing very heavy rains, strong winds, likely some storm surge also, spending a lot of the day tomorrow making that move. as you said, just behind it, tropical storm laura, winds now at 60 miles-an-hour. this is about to move over cuba, maybe briefly weakening, but this one will have more time in the gulf of mexico which will allow it to intensify even more. so likely while it's in the gulf of mexico, running up to a category 2 storm before making landfall late wednesday into thursday. you can

adam klotz. the real intensity, that will be happening later this afternoon and then really seeing things deteriorate in the evening and early-morning hours. here is one of several forecast models. we are in pretty good agreement it will be near the texas-louisiana border with the dirty side of the storm in central louisiana. this particular timeframe getting at 3 a.m. early tomorrow morning. think of midnight and running into early tomorrow, seeing landfall. it will start to fall apart well before that, very widespread area. we are getting tropical storm-force wind and the white area is category three or greater storm force winds, that will be happening around midnight and running on. with all that wind, this is probably the worst part of it. it brings damaging winds and a lot of water. we're forecasting storm surge of 15 to 20 feet, that will do unbelievable damage in some of these locations and even widespread along the coast, you are seeing anywhere from four to two to five feet of storm surg

we're going to start with meteorologist adam klotz tracking the twin storms. adam. >> hey, arthel. yeah, a very unique system is what we're looking at right now. marco is a little closer, nearly a hurricane right now, winds at 70 miles an hour, spinning in the gulf of mexico. likely making landfall by tomorrow afternoon so this has sped up from some of the original forecasts. there's the track running up along the louisiana coast. what you're going to see is ultimately both of these storms are at least potentially going to be making landfall in a similar location. that could be a big problem. jumping to tropical storm laura, spinning over haiti. this one going to take a little longer but ultimately running to a similar location. so once it runs over some of the tropical islands it gets into the gulf of mexico, able to heat up and warm up very quickly and suddenly you see a path that is running up along the gulf coast so louisiana, possibly getting up to a category 2 storm. this is the stronger of the two tropical systems we're paying attention to. these are our current forecast tra

meteorologist adam klotz is tracking the storm minute-by-minute, and it is definitely headed this way yes, it is, harris. this is still a powerful storm. you're looking at winds at 70 miles an hour, even though are well off shore now, the center of the storm spinning just south of philadelphia. it'll continue to track to the north. everything out in front of it is where the really heavy rain and the strong winds are, and every one of those red triangles, that is a tornado reported in the last 24 hours. we will likely see more of those. most of the tornado spun up from a hurricane on the weaker side but there is a danger and we see more of those in the afternoon in the evening. this storm will no longer stick to the coast, taking an orderly route. we will watch this pass its way through pennsylvania, new jersey, getting up into new york before heading north on up into canada. but it's going to be bringing very heavy rain, and those winds with it. no surprise here, we've got flood watches and warnings still stretching from the mid atlantic up into new england, still widespread. there wi

now to adam klotz who has the latest on the storm's path. what are you tracking adam?aking landfall close to midnight tonight. a lot of talk will it be a tropical storm or a hurricane. currently winds at 70 miles an hour. you have to only run up to 75 miles an hour to be a hurricane. either way the storm will remain similar. a powerful tropical storm or weak category 1 hurricane it will do damage particularly talking about rain. winds gusts up to 50 to 60 miles an hour in our buoys, a lot of locations getting up to 30 or 40 mile-an-hour winds. as you get close to the shore that will only intensify. likely making landfall, 11, midnight, or maybe 1:00 a.m., myrtle beach or farther north up the coastline. very heavy rain is out in front of this. you will start to notice things deteriorate eventually before it makes landfall. ones it does so, it will move inland to work its way up the coast. heavy rain in d.c., philadelphia, perhaps even in new york. this only heads farther north. new england will see heavy rain with the system also. no surprise. we're looking widespread a

meteorologist adam klotz tracking it all but first, alex hogan reporting live from the east river inohn, we've seen these gusting winds of rain on and off throughout the day in the street behind me, seeing some downed trees, branches, any unsecured trash. right here we can see these large flood barriers that have been set up here in the city. of course this is one of the hardest hit areas back in sandy in 2012 so just as a precaution in the city is putting all of this into place. right now we are not seeing as much rain as we were just about an hour ago. still, the mayor is saying, we can't be too safe. >> obviously something that we are very, very concerned about based on what we know now, heavy rain expected, very high winds. >> we may see 1-2 feet above ground from this storm and because of the wind we will also see significant wave action that will bring more water into these areas. >> the national weather service is urging drivers to stay off of flooded roads and reminding them that half of flood-related drownings happen when a vehicle is in floodwater. along with heavy rain and

meteorologist adam klotz is tracking its path.tell us. >> reporter: arthel, as you said, the storm has dropped down to a tropical storm, likely is going to restrengthen and become a hurricane probably overnight tonight. the reason this happened, i can step out of the way, running over the bahamas, this kind of tore up a little bit. we're back out over open water, beginning to see these winds maybe intensify over the next couple hours again as we slowly drift towards the coast. we're really beginning in the last several hours to see the outer bands of rain working across portions of out south florida, at times heavy downpours. the winds are gusting with this system, up to 85 miles an hour, consistent winds at 70 miles an hour. this will take place from tonight into monday morning at least in florida. here's the forecast you do see it going from a tropical storm, bounces back up to a category 1 hurricane and you'll watch it run up the coast, maybe weakening before it exits the state. if it gets close to land, it will slow it down. f

meteorologist adam klotz. adam? >> good evening, bret. we're getting close to seeing things deteriorate along the gulf coast. now about 140 miles off of the coast that is getting close enough that you're starting to see the outer bounds of rain beginning to batter the coastline. actually everything here highlighted in the big red box that is a tornado watch. the ingredients are in place that you can see tornado spin-up overnight as the system gets closer and closer. in the next couple hours we'll talk about those really tight outer bands beginning to run on the shore. that's when the winds will really pick up, get up to hurricane force. landfall likely coming at 2:00 or 3:00 a.m. things will be getting worse, this is going to bring a lot of water, a lot of rain and a lot of wind. everything here in the big orange areas, that is tropical storm force winds. and then everything the red is hurricane force winds. those arriving around 10:00 p.m. and lingering overnight. when you talk about that much wind a storm like this brings a lot of water

our meteorologist adam klotz is tracking every moment of the trajectory. adam, what's the latest?> reporter: hey, there, gillian. if you're in the bahamas you know this has been spinning over you for a little while. south florida is waiting to begin to see the impact, probably tonight into early sunday morning, winds at 80 miles an hour, gusting at times up to 100 miles an hour. this is a powerful system. no surprise we have watches and warnings across the bahamas, everything in the readies a hurricane warning. central florida, up the coast, likely where the storm gets the closet closest, -- the closest and perhaps makes landfall those are areas where we're seeing hurricane warnings currently. we're beginning to see outer bands approach miami, farther south. this is going to intensify late tonight, into early sunday morning. i can time that out of for you on the next graphic. it stays a category 1 hurricane as it runs its way up the coast. you see the cone of uncertainty, perhaps this runs farther to the west and up the coast of florida, perhaps it runs out to sea. we'll have wind

adam klotz joins us as the world suffers extreme heat. >> it is hot, it is windy and incredibly dry sowildfires are threat over the next couple days. these are red flag warnings, high wildfire dangers are being driven by those very dry conditions, and extreme heat, heat advisories from arizona across california to the north. temperatures will be back in the triple digits and a lot of places similar to the last several days. another 120 degree day in death valley. you see a lot of spots in triple digits, northern california, 104 degrees. the heat is really there. in the atlantic we are moving through an incredibly active hurricane season so far and a couple more storms to pay attention to. two tropical waves, one just north of south america, another to the east. these could become hurricanes in the next couple days or at least tropical storms in the next couple days, something we are watching closely. the next two months the most active 2 months in hurricane season so we are just kicking it off even though we have seen so many storms. jillian: thank you. todd: we can call it the best st

as adam klotz was warning us it is a big deal, though it doesn't have a hurricane register next to itadam, what are we looking at right now? >> neil you talked about one of the big issues and that was possibility of tornadoes. this is the storm reports last 24 hours. those red triangles those are a tornado report the last 24 hours. they are relatively small, ef 0s and ef-1s, and they cause little damage. there is still a tornado watch in place. that includes philadelphia, new york city, stretching farther to the north. as the storm lifts north, that box will head north. even if you're not in there, 70 miles an hour as the storm is spinning south of philadelphia. it will bring with it winds and rain. it doesn't move along the coast t actually shoots inland a little more. across pennsylvania, to upstate new york, before eventually heading up into canada as it makes that move, slowly with the winds dying down. it is not just the wind. we'll continue to see heavy rain. there are flood watches, warnings, stretching across the mid-atlantic, up through new england. as far as north as maine w

todd: meteorologist adam klotz joins us live with what we can expect today. good morning, guys. that was a really big storm that attacked the midwest yesterday. widespread winds got up to 100 miles an hour, other places, 90, 80 miles an hour many these are storm reports after the last 24 hours, one of those blue dots is a wind report of at least 60 miles an hour. you can see very widespread. the good news is, that system really winding down, no longer going to be a threat today. instead, we're going to once again focus on extreme heat that is again attacking the u.s. right now, not too bad. temperatures in the 70s and 80s early this morning. we will once again be warming up. these are heat indices, what it will feel like outside, 105 in some cases getting close to 110. we're moving through august here as i toss it back to you but the heat really continuing, not feeling like fall just yet out there across the country. back to you guys. todd: yesterday was one of those guys, if you went outside if you were out of shade for a second you were sweating. it's summer

meteorologist adam klotz has the reader now. what are you saying today? >> good afternoon.ue to see a storm that is only going to intensify particularly now that we are out open water. that's allowing the storm and that's a category one hurricane, but in relatively short order we expect it to intensify up to a category two. then category three, 115 miles per hour. those are portions of central louisiana and those are all possibilities to where landfall will eventually occur with the system. these are central models and pc are very defined eye wall which would mean a lot of wind and very heavy rain. on top of that just carrying a wall of water, that's something that happens with these big storms. so a storm surge as possible seeing anywhere from 7-11 feet which would do a ton of damage and put large areas of the coast underwater. so no surprise when we talk about that, that we see all of the warnings that we have in place. additionally, we are expecting some locations, on top of where we are already going to search. again no surprises and this will probably be a mess. it's b

todd: with that, let's go to adam klotz for a look at our weather as we head into a new week. morning, guys. we're still thinking about the tropics, we're still in the heart of that season. here's our areas of concern out there, early this morning. none of these are going to be making an impact on the united states within the next couple days but just a reminder that we are in the heart of the season. we have a couple waves off the coast of africa, one off the coast of south america and one off the southeast. this is going to move away from the united states but we are still right in the heart of this season and we expect to see a lot more tropical activity before it's all said and done. otherwise across the country, temperatures already up into the 80s across portions of the south, cooler in the northern tier of the country, in the 60s. it will be along this frontal boundary where we see warm and cold air where we see the possibility of thunderstorms later today. think about the plains as an area where you could see thunderstorms before the day is over. temperatures getting up

adam klotz is in the extreme weather center tracking the storm. hi, adam. >> hey there, leland. yeah, the storm downgraded and really across a large area of florida, maybe a little sigh of relief because this is where the storm currently sits, off the coast of west palm beach. you see everything to the east of the storm, that's where the heavy rains are. that's where the strongest winds are at this point and that's going to continue. now, still if you're right along the coast you want to pay attention to this. if you see the real intensity just lingering there up the eastern side of the storm, the dirty side of the storm if you will, it's going to be dodging a lot of florida. it isn't until it makes landfall likely monday evening, into early tuesday morning that you see the heavier rains and stronger winds begin to work their way on-shore, across south carolina, maybe near myrtle beach and running into north carolina, areas to pay attention to. here's the track, running there right along the eastern edge of florida. then you take it in on early -- excuse me, early tuesday mornin

got the latest how many has taken advantage of that or afraid of that meantime adam klotz on how bad this could get. what are you hearing, adam? >> well, neil, it's as bad as advertised at this point. winds at 140 miles per hour. category 4 storm. i do think we are only a couple hours away of starting to see. so evenings really along the coast line. winds are going to be picking up the next couple of hours as really getting closer to what ultimately will be a landfall probably early tomorrow morning. outer bands of rain beginning to batter. so clothesline. everything there highlighted in that big red box. that is a tornado watch, the ingredients are there to spin up tornadoes as the system works its way on shore. i think the winds from the storm will be the worst. here it is in motion again by 8:00 p.m., 10:00 p.m. getting strong winds and heavy rain moving. in likely going to be make landfall. landfall the eye wall early on thursday morning it. would have fallen apart before then conditions go getting rough. by 6:00 p.m. getting some of those extreme tropical storm force winds. only

meteorologist adam klotz joins us live with what we can expect today. >> good morning, guys. that again today but we're still tracking at least a possibility for some severe weather. let's dive into it. this what is we're looking at as of right now. i run you back up into the upper plains, from nebraska, to north dakota, there's a slight risk of seeing severe weather once again today. when you see winds up to 60 miles an hour, heavy rain, possibly hail and isolated tornadoes still possible with this system, i don't think it will be as widespread as we saw the other day, being driven by warm temperatures, particularly in the middle of the country, getting up to the upper 90s, that could fuel storms. tropical depression 11 could become tropical storm josephine, it's the only storm out there right now, very small chance of this making it back to the states. so we're all clear as we continue through the week. jillian: thank you. todd: we can't have another storm in connecticut. check this out. a close call for walt disney world guests in florida this week. jillian: look at that.

meteorologist adam klotz is tracking laura. >> good afternoon.is running in the gulf of mexico. this is where it will begin to really intensify. currently a category one hurricane. winds at 75 miles per hour. it will lift to the north over the warm water. with that, it is going to intensify. it's up to a category two and likely getting up to a category three storm. that means winds of 115 miles per hour possible when it makes landfall late wednesday to early thursday morning. there is a little bit of time where it could shift. and the timing could change. that is the general time frame we are looking at. we have the hurricane warnings that are stretching from galveston, texas, to central louisiana. it will bring rain, strong winds and the storm surge. when you get a really large storm like this, it can bring a lot of water with it. this is still a ways out. we are looking at anywhere from 7-11 foot storm surge along the coast. that could cause damage along the coast. on top of that, heavy rainfall. some of the areas as much as 12 inches of rain.

first, adam klotz is tracking the latest. >> we have a little bit of good news as we wake up. we see this is no longer a hurricane, it's still a tropical storm. pay attention to where the heaviest rain is, where the heaviest wind is, all to the eastern side. this morning, this afternoon, florida finds itself on the correct side of the storm to really avoid the heaviest rain, avoid some of those really powerful winds. that's going to continue to be the case. it's going to be more like the carolinas that see a bigger brunt from this. you will see this running up the coast of florida from now, until early monday morning, likely making landfall somewhere in the carolinas monday night, into early tuesday morning. you're seeing much more opportunity there for land and then eventually tracking the system all the way up to mid-atlantic into new england and up into canada which means this is going to be a rain system, not just for folks in florida, throughout the rest of the day, but it's going to be something we're paying attention to into wednesday, this upcoming week. here's the for

with very latest on that, adam klotz. adam, what is this looking like?il, you kind of nailed it there. winds of 730 miles an hour as we sit off the coast of the carolinas. moving forward, 75 miles an hour would make it a hurricane. it either makes landfall as a strong stops, weak hurricane, category 1, will not make a huge difference. we're still talking about strong winds which we're seeing along coastal communities. widespread 30 to 40 mile-an-hour gusts. once this moves inland suddenly, we'll talk about what is a major rain event across the very large portion of the eastern half of the country. here is the move we're seeing overnight, likely around myrtle beach, up to wilmington, perhaps a landfall midnight give or take a little bit. then the storm works its way inland and moves up the coast. talking about the i-95 corridor, from philadelphia, d.c., new york, boston will see a some of this. a lot of rain will fall the next 48 hours or so. so no surprise are pretty big area with watches and warnings, tropical storm winds across the entire east coast. b
