adam lanza's aunt speaking out. marsha lanza, thanks for joining me. i'm aware you're the first member of the family to speak out since this appalling shooting. first of all, let me get your reaction to the release of the 911 tapes. have you heard them yourself and what do you feel about the release today? >> i've heard a portion of the tapes. i don't think the timing is right for them to be released. i think emotions are very raw and too soon. i really believe they need to wait. >> you're married to the brother of adam lanza's father. you didn't see adam lanza from i think when he was three years old but stayed in contact with his mother, nancy and there are obviously many unanswered questions what happened here. as a member of the family, as a lanza, have you been able to work out in your mind what on earth happened to turn adam lanza into this mass killer? >> wow, it's been very trying as a family. it's been shaken to the core. yes, we all have questions, as well, that we'll never have answers to, as to why. was he a troubled child? did he get the h

. >> adam lanza's father. what was that meeting like for you?> it was -- it felt good after i met with him and spoke with him. it was something i wanted to do and needed to do. it wasn't any answer to why it happened or what could have been done to prevent it. he was a father that lot of a son as i did. i said that last year. he is carrying a bigger burden than i am. our loved ones will be honored and remembered for the tragedy. they are victims. his son will be remembered as a massacre killer. mr. lanza was a very nice, very caring, very respectful person. it was clear he was somebody who loved his son and cared about his son very much. >> do you think he knew his son had deep problems in his life? >> from what i understand, it was clear he had some problems. he was stated that that was what happened and what adam had done was never something they could have expected in their wildest dreams. as with any of us. looking at the report that was released a week or two ago, i don't think adam's mother was afraid of him or felt threatened by him. the

and we also have one from adam lanza's i.d. from the newtown technology team.owing that to you -- there it is on the screen. that was found in his room. the report is heavily redacted, o. edited, a bunch of blacked-out portion office -- portions of minor witnesses, identity of confidential informants and witnesses, names and address of students enrolled in a public school, and a letter accompanying this report we just received here in the new room, bradford, commission of the state department of emergency services and public protection, explained they have disheavy edits say he hopes the release of the reports will provide helpful information that can be put to use to prevent such tragedies in the future. and the summary that was put out last month by the state attorney was based on these never before seen documents which detailed the timeline of the crime, the crime scene evidence and recovery, and contained pages of information on lanza's education, personality, mental health and habits and a description of his apparent obsession with masts mass murders, incl

>> well, thinking about this adam lanza case, the killer in newtown, at first it just seemed to me a crazy kid doing something almost inexplicably crazy with a gun. as the report has come out -- >> the state report recently -- >> yes. >> -- came out a couple of weeks ago. >> yeah, the state report has gone into the way in which he used videogames and obsessively played violent videogames. and apparently did research on massacres. and there's a way in which in the individual case you see something that also works on the cultural level. and that is that people will model their behavior on examples that they consider to be heroic. and that's how mythology works in a culture. there are cultural myths that define what for us is a positive response to a crisis. and it's embodied in media. and we learn it through the media and we model our behavior on that of heroes. and apparently lanza in the way he conducted the massacre was making the kind of moves that are the standard moves of a person playing a violent videogame. you'd never enter a new room unless you've put a fresh clip in your gun
