olivia: we had adam parker of morgan stanley on yesterday and he said he did not think dollar strengthe it agrees because when the dollar strengthens you see pe multiples expand. do you agree? jim: that is the history and you have the ability to do mna. your currency is stronger. you can buy overseas properties. bob: what is driving stocks -- earnings or buybacks strategies? jim: long-term i want to find companies that have fundamental earnings growth because that is the most durable way to grow and the highest multiple way to grow. today, you cannot find that as easily. carol: it's getting tougher because we will see another consecutive quarter of earnings decline. what in particular at this point? jim: we're looking for companies that can find underlying volume growth year after year. olivia: everyone is looking at that. where are these companies? jim: look at quintiles -- they do outsource critical trials. r&d spending is going up because the pharmaceutical sector has been hot. so much capital going in there. you see more outsourcing and more trials. carol: they went public in 2013.
