let's ask adam parker, founder and ceo of trivariate research. interesting turn in the market. >> yeah. >> you think it is in part because of what the futures are telling us bond yields could do tomorrow and we'll get some relief? >> i think so. you have weird days when the bond market is closed anl the equity market is open and the value of a lot of the growth stocks, as you alluded to, is correlated or associated with the perception about rates in the future. i think when you get a risk off trade, the 10-year usually goes lower. i also think that frankly a lot of investors believe, the kenls view among institutional investors, is we'll end the year higher, that they're behind on the 12%, 13% in the s&p, behind on the 20% in the nasdaq. they didn't allocate as much to equities. i think people will chase a little bit. it's october 9th. we didn't get any major negative prereleases yet. if things were worrisome on the earnings front, you eat get a mess in the first seven, eight days. that could be okay. maybe we could be off to a bit of a rally bas

adam parker and cheryl young, welcome to you both. good to have you both here. so there's the setup, adam. the soft landing scenario, you haven't seen much of anything to really disturb that. the market has been trying to make its peace with yields at these levels. i guess putting on a brave face enough rotation away from big tech. how does it feel to you? >> my bias is we can go higher. the market has been remarkably resilient to pretty extreme politics and global risk. i think most people came in under allocated at u.s. equities, bond yields look more attractive and they haven't fully participated in the rally. i think there could be a pretty big chase. i don't believe that good news is bad for the market for a sustained period. it can happen briefly. good news is good news. to answer the question in your teaser, there's lots of evidence historically that the stock market can work when bond yields rise. often they're both emblematic of growth. i think the risk/reward is skewed to the positive through earnings here. >> cheryl, i mentioned the good news we got ev

let's ask adam parker, cnbc contributor. adam, i don't know, people trying to look on the not so negative side. yesterday, a bit of a failed rally. today, yields are quiet, markets able to maybe seize on some of the fundamental news. are weable to go from macro to micro at this point? >> during evenings season, some stocks give you four updates a year. the rest of it is all macro or factor betting. i think we're getting some mixed to positive results on aggregate for the earnings season. i do think we can get back in this goldy locks period where we can dream they're going to stop raising rates and eventually there will be accommodation? yeah, i do. we'll end up the year higher based on that. >> the key question has always been is it just another growth scare where investors are over anticipating a recession or a steep slowdown or rates going to hasten the day when we have to bring it here now? it is inconclusive evidence. there is nothing to say that the soft landing has been called off. >> yeah. of course. if you wait long
