i met adrienne a week later. her courage and defiance were incredible.he vowed she would dance again. adrienne agreed for us to film her journey and she and her husband adam filmed their everyday lives on their phone and video diaries. she didn't want to sugar coat the story so some of the footage maybe hard to the watch but shooe she feels strongly that people understand the real reality of what she and her family have gone through this past year. this is "the survivor diaries." >> the hospital confirmed that i will be going home tomorrow. it makes me really sad because i don't feel like i'm ready. i'm scared to walk the streets of boston. for the first time after all of this, and i have been living in this bubble of safety, surrounded by countless family and friends in safe hospitals with security. now i'm just going to go out in to the real world. a world with bombs and strangers and memories that i don't know if i'm ready to face. >> you almost never see moves like that. >> the day 0 of the marathon, a gorgeous day. we turned on the tv and watched th

for the past year adrienne has allowed us to follow her recovery.t of the video herself, and documented her trials and also her struggles to overcome the physical and emotional wounds. at 10:00 p.m. eastern time, a little over an hour from now, we'll bring you the special report. >> part of my ptsd was always thinking a bomb would go off at all times. they lit fireworks over the harbor. and all of a sudden, we heard explosions and i started screaming and crying, call 911. >> well, adrienne haslet davis joins me now. and you know, one of the things we see in that moment it just the reality of recovery, the reality of this. in tv, we're there for a couple of days, couple of weeks at times. and then we leave, and you are left with this new life. and it is -- i just think it is incredibly brave of you to document this and show it to the world. because -- is it important for you that people know the reality of recovery? >> yeah, it really is. you know, like you said, you know, you can cover news stories and people can have that moment of grieving with yo

is adrienne still experiencing that level of post-traumatic stress?, i think she will tell you she has good days and bad ones. today was a good one, and i think the thing that makes her so strong in boston strong is her willingness to admit it is okay not to be okay sometimes and to have moments like that and to still be able to get up the next day and hold your head up high and try to keep moving forward. and so i don't think she would say that she is out of the woods in terms of her recovery. but i think it gets better and better. she is have nights like the one she just captured. it's a good reminder that post traumatic stress is not just for survivors of war. why exactly did she agree to share her story? it's a very bold decision, but i don't fully understand it. what did she say? >> she says -- i asked her that same question. she says she wants people to know what recovery looks like, and wants people to know that it is okay to not be okay, which is a saying her grandmother taught her when she was a little kid but she uses it all the time now. sh
