abc's adrienne bankert is there. >> reporter: this small tennessee church ripped apart by a gunman on deadly shooting rampage. >> church the christ, people have been shot at that location. >> reporter: the first calls came in at church let out. police say the gunman killed one woman in the parking lot, then made his way inside all the way to the pulpit. >> the guy came from the right side of the church and he was just shooting. he was just shooting. he came right to the middle and shoot more. >> reporter: minuter va rose's dress bloody from helping the pastor, one of seven hurt along with 68-year-old linda bush. >> she was pretending to be dead so he wouldn't shoot her again. >> reporter: after several minutes of horror, 22-year-old robert engle, a church usher, confronts the shooter. >> he tackled him. without him and -- i think it can be worse. >> reporter: the gunman now identified by police as 25-year-old emanuel samson was shot during the struggle. police say that heroic usher saved lives. >> this church usher, an extraordinarily brave individual. >> reporter: police are still lo

here's adrienne bankert. >> reporter: tonight, disturbing video from a utah hospital. a police detective handcuffing and arresting a nurse who refuses to give police a blood sample from a patient. >> i'm just a nurse trying to protect the patient. >> believe it or not i'm trying to protect him, too. >> reporter: salt lake city police investigating an explosive and deadly truck crash in late july. the survivor of that crash unconscious in this burn unit. >> is this patient under arrest? >> no. >> do you have an electronic warrant? >> no. >> reporter: nurse alex wubbels cites hospital policy about patient consent. >> this is something you guys agreed to with this hospital. >> reporter: tensions escalate. her supervisor chimes in on speaker phone: >> you're making a huge mistake right now. >> reporter: that's when the detective explodes. >> we're done. >> reporter: arresting wubbels. her attorney, releasing what she claims is unedited police body cam footage. >> please, sir, you're hurting me. >> then walk! >> reporter: 20 minutes later, wubbels is released. >> i just fee

preliminary results of the autopsy are just in tonight and here's adrienne bankert now. >> reporter: tonight another tragic fraternity death. police at louisiana state university investigating the death of 18-year-old freshman max gruver. >> hazing is dangerous, irresponsible and unacceptable and will not be tolerated at lsu period. >> reporter: gruver brought to the hospital wednesday night. he later died. a preliminary autopsy today finding he had a highly elevated blood alcohol level and traces of thc in his system, the chemical found in marijuana along with swelling in the brain and fluid in the lungs. all greek activities shut down for now. >> if we can't stop hazing, what else is there to do? >> reporter: while it's not been proven hazing occurred the fraternity's national organization promises that the chapter and any individuals were found to have violated our policies will be held accountable. fraternities now under renewed scrutiny after the death of tim piazza at penn state. 14 members are now facing criminal charges. david, the district attorney is telling us the family i
