around lake county now we have a heat advisory and the inland hills of the east bay, we have a heat advisory and that stays in effect until friday, meaning some of the numbers will be significant like they were today. redding, 111, 102 in davis, 104 in chico and it's not just there -- it's the whole western grid as we've been talking about. look at palm springs, 122 -- 114 in vegas. so this whole area is being strained by the heat out there and these are the temperatures we had as well -- local temperatures, but still you see the temperatures in fairfield and concord -- much cooler around the bay because of that little bit of fog and onshore flow. and it has really cut these guys off from the cool air but look -- 78 in oakland and even santa rosa at 88 -- that's not horrible, daunting heat. a live camera shot -- that would be yes -- as of oh, and you can see it is quiet and foggy out there at the airport. we had a few thunderstorms down around mammoth today and a few high clouds and a little fog now pushing inland -- quite a bit of that actually pushing inland and we will continue with that.

evacuation orders and advisories are in place. lee martinez is outside winters this morning with the update on what cal fire is saying. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. directly above us we have a little bit of blue sky. everywhere around us we are covered in smoke. we have a road closure. it's heading to one of the main ways to get to the lake. that is closed off. cal fire recommends that people prepare to leave the highlands and the pleasure cove resort area. flames crested the ridge yesterday evening. campgrounds normally packed for the holiday have been evacuated. crews rushed in to provide the protection. cal fire had planned a major back fire operation overnight if the winds stayed calm in order to tie in areas and increase containment. progress is uncertain with the fire growing some 15,000 acres in one day. whipped up by winds on the higher elevations. this huge fire is best seen by air because of the steep terrain. air support had imagine drops. residents saw as they made pick ups from nearby water sources. >> pro
