and we again with some developing news up in the north bay. sheriff's deputies are investigating an apparent homicide on a popular hiking trail. kpix 5's cate caugiran is near fairfax where that investigation resumes a little later this morning. cate, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, frank. sheriff's deputies have been here overnight since the body was found. and that trail, the hiking trail is shut down as investigators wait for more light to assess the area. we have video from the scene from yesterday. marin county sheriff's deputies, firefighters and fairfax police flooded the area. one victim was found shot on gunsite fire road on the north side of sir francis drake boulevard. a hiker spotted the victim around 6:00 last night. investigators also found a dog in the area but they do not know if the animal belongs to the victim. i can tell you right now there are still a lot of unknowns in this case. an autopsy is pending. and again investigators will be back here in just a few hours to make sure that they can gather any evidence left
