they were one week ago today. in fact, a week ago this hour news broke that the peace of paris was being shattered in the city. welcome back, we have some breaking news for you out of paris, france. several people have been killed and seven others injured following a shooting in central paris late friday. that was just the beginning, unfortunately. at this point one week ago the siege of the bataclan concert hall had just begun. and today as the death toll in france rises to 130 from those isis terrorist attacks, 130 people killed mercilessly as the french prime minister put it today, the united states was assisting french special forces in a counterattack to another terrorist atrocity in the west african nation of mali after gunmen there stormed a hotel and opened fire inside. we are now told that all the hostages are out including six americans. but at least 21 people are dead. and the gunmen may not be giving up. cnn chief national security correspondent jim sciutto is following this all live from london. and,

he was arrested in belgium along with salah abdeslam who was named two days ago as a suspect. while we have the photograph and name of salah abdeslam was circulated saying that he was wanted in connection with the raids and described as extremely dangerous, the the other name was only mentioned as having been in an organising or coordinating capacity. he is believed to be in syria to have been pulling the strings from apar. it was only late on tuesday that police actually mentioned that there was a nine attacker. they didn't want to aalert abdel hamid abaaoud to the fact that they understood him to be on french territory. it's understood that, as i said, two attackers or two suspected attackers have been killed in that apartment. two have been arrested. we don't have any ids on the people who have been killed and we don't know whether salah abdeslam and abdel hamid abaaoud themselves were actually together and hiding in this apartment, but certainly there were a number of people in there because when the police first arrived, there was gun fire coming out of the apartment and

it is going ahead despite the paris attacks just a week ago. let's turn our attention back to mali. president francois hollande saying a short time ago that france is doing everything it can to free hostages because as we were saying at the top of the hour, perhaps more than 100 people are being held at the radisson hotel in amoco. luke -- in bamako. of the security has been involved since the arrival? job: they did a pretty good , quite a good deal of celebration in the wake of the initial operation that they had succeeded in clamping down, stamping out various extremist groups. that appears to have been somewhat overoptimistic, just now after the initial intervention by the french. you are seeing clearly that the french overstretched. they have about 5000 men, not just in mali, but stretched from mauritania, all the way over to niger. quite a lot of the men are in chad, in the capital of chad there. to clampstruggling down. simply a dozen or so individuals are thought to be involved in this current hostage crisis, so they are also overstretched because of the number of groups. we
