ahmed khan rahami was placed on the watchlist as early as tuesday 14 by his father. confirmed that he told the authorities two years ago about his son. he described his son as a terrorist who had contact with bad people overseas, but recanted saying that his son was hanging out with gangs and acting like a dog. -- like a thug. checked thethe fbi databases and found nothing to link rahami with terror groups or evidence of radicalization. the neighbor above the shop that was also the home of the rahami family sounded an alarm saying he heard the father calling his son a terrorist.

. >> he is 28-year-old ahmed khan rahami seen here in this just released armed and dangerous wanted poster. let's get right to pete williams who's been breaking this story >> savannah, they've been hunting for this man for the past 12 hours. they decided just a short time ago to make his name public and seek help in finding him. 28-year-old ahmed khan rahami of elizabeth, new jersey. born january 23rd, 1988, in afghanistan. he's 5'6" and weighs about 200 pounds. authorities have told us he can be seen in the surveillance video from both the new york city locations where bombs were planted saturday night, and cell phones taken from the unexploded pressure cooker bomb on 27th street in new york, and from the partially exploded bomb left saturday in new jersey also played a role in identifying him. his family home was searched overnight in new jersey, and members of his family were stopped and questioned. but it is not known this morning whether officials believe he was the only one involved in the weekend bombings or whether they think he had help. that's to be determined. >> pete, let me ju
