yea, that feeling >>> meteorologist aimee wilmoth with us now. we have been anxiously watching the weather tomorrow for a few days now. >> right now it still looks like we'll probably have fairly low impacts with this storm system. i like to say "probably" because i have been burned in the past when you get some of these quick bursts of heavy snow. you can get some accumulation, so it's certainly possible. but take a look at the radar right now. we have some stuff going on down to the south. we just had a report from a viewer down in hope county saying they're getting sleet and some light snow at the moment. so this area of rain mixed with some sleet and snow is moving to the north and east, moving into cumberland county. and something that i want to point out also is that you see this area shaded in the brighter colors? this is probably what we call bright banding. our radar site is right up here. it's shooting out its band higher in the atmosphere so why it looks like it's coming down so heavily is the snow is starting to melt and turning into

aimee wilmoth tracking where aimee? >> reporter: well the rain is pretty much done for now. we'll likely stay dry overnight tonight. we'll have a little bit of fog and some pockets of drizzle. there's still some showers towards the mountains with a few little sprinkles possible overnight tonight. we had some rain move through this afternoon. if you check out the totals from today it was really light stuff within a tenth of an inch. some of us would be completely dry. the other big story today was the warm temperatures as we 71 was the high temperature today. and back to the 70s in fayetteville as we do have a cold front that will move in early tomorrow. a cooler day for us tomorrow with clouds and drizzle and then rain becomes likely tomorrow night. it's likely that we'll have rain on tuesday and some storms to talk about on wednesday with a lot to talk about in 15 minutes or so. and hour by hour over the next 48 hours coming up, ken. >> thanks. >>> state troopers say alcohol is a factor in a deadly crash on i-40 in raleigh. troopers say that they were traveling in reverse w

aimee wilmoth over in the weather center now to explain how long this will stick around. aimee? >> reporter: getting closer to the teens in the northern communities. look at our temperatures at the 10:00 hour. 21 in roxboro and south hill. 25 in rocky mount. and 28 in fayetteville. already very cold out there. temperatures will continue to tumble as we progress through the next several hours. it will be very cold overnight tonight. by 2:00 in the morning in raleigh, you think we'll be around 19 degrees. so we'll be dipping down into those teens. >> and we'll finally bottom out around 15 degrees. i wouldn't rule out single digits for some of the outlying rural locations. again, it's just going to be bitterly cold into sunday. and really it stays cold all day. and once we get past tomorrow's cold, we'll really need to focus on monday's weather. a winter storm watch has been posted for much of the viewing area. we'll look at how this storm could impact our morning for our evening commute as well. a lot to talk about for the next workweek. we'll have measure coming up. back to u. >>
