that stock has been weaker than airbnb. expectations have been lower. that stock a little bit better. emily: airbnb gross bookings now more than $10 billion and still higher than pre-pandemic levels, which i thought was surprising. what are the risks you see ahead for airbnb if there is a travel rebound? why would investors be skeptical? >> i don't know if there is any huge glaring risk. one of the things that stands out when you look at the numbers tonight was the strength in average daily rates. the price of that house are charging for rooms to -- price that hosts are charging for rooms. adrs up 35% year-over-year. in the letter, they talk about how that is not going to be sustainable. that there is a supply and demand imbalance in the marketplace. if you think about if it was mostly adr, that is not a sustainable driver. the top line beat looks a little less impressive. i don't want to say that is -- this is still a solid quarter for airbnb. they talk about april being stronger than march. that is a good sign heading into the second quarter. emily: w

joining me now is ceo and he could founder of airbnb.k you for having me. >> you say this is going to be a travel rebound unlike america has ever seen before. really? ever? >> well, certainly in my lifetime. >> you're only 39. >> certainly last 40 years i think this is probably the most important thing to happen in travel probably since world war ii. and, you know, obviously, i've been doing travel for 13 years. but we're pretty big company. we've studied the history pretty closely. you know, what you have right now, just give you a couple pieces of data. number one, you know, on airbnb, we're seeing travel activity that is at 2019 levels already. this is before cross border travel completely reopens which is half of our business. and this is before, you know, you have re-emergence of people traveling to cities. you combine those two, that was 68% of our business. so without that full revolcover we're back to 2019 levels. what was taken away from us, traveling and connectsing with other people. and i think this memorial day weekend you'l

we have got readings for airbnb coming up. it that sheskey even could say to change the way people are thinking about this >> i think that the way people should be thinking about this should be different from company to company uber and lyft and doordash are facing a certain kinds of regulatory threat. and airbnb has made more progress with regulators over the years. i think what sheskey has to do tonight is reassure investors they have the supply for the massive rebound that they have already seen and expect to continue to see for the rest of the year john, you mentioned competition. expedia has been spending big on their vrbo brand to get more host, potentially post some super hosts from airbnb. there is some evidence that that is working but they are coming from a lower base. we have to distinguish between the share economy names. a much different story from doordash who doesn't know if demand delivery for food is going to hold up the rest of the year versus airbnb and the advantage they have in taking advantage of the rebo

airbnb is a great example of a company that has proven itself through the pandemic.is done much better than the average hotel, which was completely closed. the fact we have more flexibility as a relates to place means we will be using more apps and technology like airbnb. another area to look out for, another company or technology, really, is flex office space. wework is coming back into the market by a spac in september and that will be interesting to look at. in the new way we work, we're going to demand more flexibility and you could see flex office space reach up to 25% to 30% of office demand to help us achieve how we want to work in a more flexible manner in the future. that is a great comeback story because remember, that company almost went bankrupt about a year ago. haidi: i'm looking at your geographic allocations, and as of february, 50% in the u.s., 16% in europe. is that still the case? it feels like the recovery narrative has slipped. whether you're talking about the vaccine rollout or new operates, it feels like europe and the u.s. are doing a lot bett

what do you see for us today >> all right yeah, i'm going to start off with airbnb, scott this one istty interesting because it is a stock that was well over $200 a share it pulled back significantly yesterday when the stock was trading about $134, we had buyers of may 155 calls. they bought about 5,000 of those. today they're back in again and buying about 10,000 of the may $150 calls, scott. pretty aggressive stock. it was about $138 at the time. it has jumped a little bit, not a lot. but they were going for $1.70 and a little over $3 pretty aggressive buying two days in a row. somebody expecting it to be a stock that moves rapidly because may expiration is coming up quickly. number two, under armour we know this stock really well the stock was just underneath 19 and we got a buyer of 6,000 of the may 19 calls again, expiring very soon. those options are only going for about 35 cents to about 50 cents. in terms of cost, not a lot of cost, but expecting a pretty rapid move out of both of these stocks over the next week or so to see how fast, and can they actually explode to the upsid
