amy: let's talk about that, state representative aiyash.extremely significant as the number two person in the house in michigan. and as nermeen said, the highest-ranking arab american and muslim leader in michigan. this meeting where -- original meeting where the campaign manager for president biden, you chose not to meet with him. he has sent out a whole group, including cement the powers, former u.s. -- cement the power -- and on samantha power. this has shaken the white house. the level of protest when he was getting the endorsement of the uaw. uaw workers holding up signs calling for a ceasefire. talk about why you decided to have this meeting and not boycott the invite. and also what they had to say to you about where president biden stands on the ceasefire. >> there was no direct commitment on the ceasefire. what i will say is when they invited us to meet with the campaign manager, we respected it because this is not the time to engage in electoral politics, particularly when you see 30,000 innocent folks that have been murdered at th

. >> abed, you said that you were fine with elected officials like representative aiyash meeting withcted officials on the federal level, or appointed officials i should say from the white house and administration, but not community leaders. why that distinction that you think they should have stayed out of the room? >> thank you. thank you for, you know, having us on to discuss this. look, elected officials have their business, they have the relationship with the federal government and we understand that, and we do understand that there were some elected officials who decided not to go and we respect the decisions made. we may have different strategies but at the end of the day we all have the same objective. now, even some of the elected officials in the room and some of the folks that were invited don't necessarily speak on behalf of the arab american community or the muslim-american community in michigan. and the president has heard our message. the community has been speaking. you know, for our community shortly after october 7th we were asked to condemn almost immediately. befor

john king, he's going to be upset abby >> thanks, laura, joining me now is abraham aiyash? he's the majority floor leader in the michigan house of representatives. and he is the highest ranking arabic american lawmaker in the state. abraham, thanks for joining us. now, as you just heard there, over 60,000 uncommitted votes and counting, do you think that this sends enough of a message to the president and his campaign at this point i think that's the question that we're going to have to ask the biden campaign what we know is this. michigan is going to be a critical state in november, and there's a significant chunk of michigan voters that are antiwar pro-peace and want to see an end to the funding of israel's war crimes and voters came out in with a lot of enthusiasm with that commitment and now the question has to be, to president biden in his campaign, what will they do to heed the call of these people that have come out and said, we are a pro-peace, anti-war movement that once our leaders to be better, it is not an undemocratic thing to demand that your leaders are bad a
