now salaam ajami says this is just the latest round in the continuing fight for palestinians to securehomeland. he says people on both sides want peace, but they're divided by radical elements and that makes it a lot harder to reach a solution that both sides can agree on. can't reach a peace unless the underlying conditions are just and livable for everybody. and that's that's what we should be focused on. what what are livable just condition means for everybody for israelisfor palestinians. what does that look like, though? experts on middle east history say even during calmer times, it's tough to maintain a long term peace. but there is hope. as long as both sides are willing to keep working at it. and oakland police commission committee assigned to finding candidates for police chief now has a list of recommendations for now. the committee submitted the names of seven applicants to the mayor. the city administration and the full police commission. that list includes the name of lauren armstrong, the former oakland police chief. the other names on the list have not been made public.
