the akron team did deep work on immigration. they shared their footage, and they shared their research. this was so successful, in ohio, from both the journalists point of view and citizens point of view, that this project is now being carried forward. doug oplinger, senior editor at akron beacon journal, left that position and leading a project called, your voice ohio. you can all look at it on the web and track this work. they have now increased the numbers of journalistic outlets participating in this to 25 and the fundamental reason that the journalists cost to make this leap was how shocked they were when they were sitting face to face with all these citizen leaders, people who they interview on a regular basis and it fundamentally came down to, even those pretty sophisticated leaders public and consumers of media, fundamentally no longer trusted journalists and the media. the seed of this was, given what journalism is, given what we want to do in terms of making sure the public is with an understanding of what is happening
