i was inspired when al roker had the gastric bypass. i decided to have the vertical sleeve surgery and up two days afterwards walking around the neighborhood. i had always dreamed of being a runner so i started training for my first 5k. after i ran my first 5k i knew i was hooked and would do a i did several 10ks and set my sights on a marathon. i was at my goal weight and blogged about my journey since the very beginning. i put a post-up in 2010 about how al roker ran the new york marathon and i remember seeing a clip of him training on the treadmill at 2:00 in the morning. his job starts at 4:00 in the at that point. i read my blog again and it said i would make him proud one day and run the new york city marathon so i decided that's exactly what i was going to do. three months ago, halfway through training for new york, i lost my husband to a mass heart attack on his bike on his way to work, completely unexpected. i didn't know how i was going to go on. i really knew he would have wanted me to just keep bed, setting my alarm at 4:45
