al roker is tracking the storm. al, what's the latest? >> okay, 130-mile-per-hour winds, but it's moving a little faster now, moving northeast at 23 miles per hour, a category 4 storm with tornado watches from the carolinas down to the keys. some tornado warnings embedded in there as well. landfall somewhere tonight between 8 and 11:00 p.m. and what we're looking at is that dangerous storm surge, 10 to 20 feet from apalachicola to south of cedar key. tampa bay may see its all-time worst. wind gusts from 75 to 110 miles per hour along the florida panhandle. tomorrow as we move into georgia, 50 miles per hour wind gusts all along the i-95 corridor. a lot of damage. we could be looking at a major flood event across the appalachians, but down in the panhandle into the mid appalachians, we're talking, lester, 10 to 20 inches of rain. the flooding could be catastrophic, lasting right on into early next week. >> this is going to be a tough one. al, thanks very much. >>> i want to get now to that sweeping federal corruption indictment of new york

but first al roker is here. and al, what's the latest on francine's track? >> right now, lester, we're looking at this thing moving relatively slowly, currently northeast at 10 miles per hour. it's 360 miles southwest of morgan city, louisiana with 65-mile-per-hour winds. will probably make landfall sometime as you mentioned right around this time tomorrow evening. the hurricane warnings up for much of the louisiana coast, new orleans in a hurricane watch. we look for this system. don't worry about the category. it's the impact. we could see wind gusts of up to 95 miles per hour, widespread outages and damage to homes. plus we've got that storm surge ahead of those winds. five to ten feet from central louisiana all the way to parts of the louisiana-mississippi coast. we're looking at a moderate risk of strong flooding. because they've already had recent rainfall so all this heavy rain could make more flooding even more likely when we're looking at up to 12 inches of rain. lester? >> all right, al roker, thanks very much. for more let's go to jesse kirsch, wh

al roker is tracking the storm. al, what can we expect?> well, we are looking for some really serious weather over the next 48 hours along the gulf. right now it's 350 miles southwest of morgan city, louisiana. 75-mile-per-hour winds, just barely a category 1, but we're not worried about the category, we're worried about the impacts, hurricane warnings right now throughout much of louisiana. new orleans under a hurricane watch. tomorrow sometime around 5:00, 6:00 we're expecting the worst conditions around 6:00 until thursday at 2:00 a.m. in new orleans. what we're expecting, 3-6 inches of rain or more, 60-mile-per-hour winds, and isolated tornadoes as well. now as the system pushes onshore, and this is what we're talking about, don't worry about categories, impacts, baton rouge could see winds we're looking at power outages, damage to homes, and with that wind, the danger. this is where the most deadly effect is, storm surge, to grand isle about ten feet of surge, four to seven feet as you move further to the east and heavy rain. this are

let's get right to al roker and get a check of where this thing's headed. >> the latest update from the 12. as we always talk about, especially on the eastern side of these storms, we have to worry about tornadoes. tornado watches now from much of florida until 8:00 at night. we've even got some tornado warnings popping up. we've also got tropical storm warnings all the way to south carolina, down to key west, but hurricane warnings from the big bend area into southwestern georgia. that's how strong this storm is going to be. and of course, the storm surge, that wall of water, anywhere from 10 to 20 feet along that big bend area. here comes the storm. could make landfall as a 3, possibly a 4. we're going to be watching that closely. but the category is not going to matter. it is just going to be devastating. 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. tonight. it has a massive force of wind, tropical storm force winds go out, 500 miles from the center. and about 60 to 70 miles of hurricane force winds. cedar key could see wind gusts of 100-mile-per-hour. 120-mile-per-hour wind gusts in tallahassee. we're t
