, and author of a new book "the rejected stone: al sharpton and the american path to leadership." thoughts in raising the debt limit, opening up the government, when do you think all that will go down? what will have to happen to have that happen? >> i think it is anyone's guess when, but the fact there's been a tremendous rising public pressure has changed the whole attitude of some of the republican leadership. but clearly not the tea party or the far right, because when you're getting out of record low poll numbers, 24% in favorability, which is unheard of, for one of the leading parties of a two-party political system. they can't ignore this much longer. if it keeps going south in terms of the numbers, i think that the responsible leadership and i never thought i would live to see the day i would call people like john mccain and them responsible, but i think they have to come forward and break this cycle. it takes a little courage now for somebody to stand up and say, wait a minute, this is a lot of nonsense. >> you know what's interesting, you have to think of what the idealo
