creek watershed partnership with the alameda county resource conservation district, california range land trust, nature conservancy and usda natural resources conservation service to coordinate watershed protection projects in the mount hamilton reign of the diablo range. it seems to me that it could be expanded to others in the watershed. namely the dirt -- namely that it was important to formalize the partnership, normalizing fronts -- responsibilities for the landowners along with collective efforts to work together and not confuse individuals about what we were doing ho, moving forward with al of the work that we were doing. it has taken some time to get to where we are, but each individual project, if you will, that involved puc will come back to the commission for approval. we just completed literally the first acquisition in the watershed for conservation purposes. there is more coming, we hope. this is all in the efforts to project -- protect the watershed above the reservoirs for the long term. we are happy to say that we are under way with at that project. close them litera

whether it is yuba county, alameda county, those opposed jurisdictions -- those opposed jurisdictions do not have the authority to consider changes in their structure. yuba county does charge significantly more -- alan needed county does charge significantly more than yuba county does in these. is also possible that alameda county would do the same as a host county, and of course, there is no guarantee either way where those rates would be. in terms of competitive bidding, this is something i did hear from members of the public. i want to be clear. there are two separate issues when we talk about the recology contract. the item that is before us, and in particular, the bidding for the fees, there was an extensive and open process conducted by the city. i do not want members of the public to be misled to believe there was no competitive process or rfp process that occurred. this is a process that was a multi-year process. the department pursued this with the indication that we would be running out of space over time, and to make sure the city would be bargaining at the strongest point

amy hollyfield is live from coastguard island in alameda. family members are hoping for a miracle here. >> they are. coastguard has covered 14 high school miles and one of family members says she was told that the search would be called off o at 2:00 a.m. on friday. the family is still hopeful that he was found, san ramon man loved this annual trip. he spent a year packing it. he organized the trip and his relatives say they are holding on to the possibility that he is on shore or he is floating and waiting for help. the coastguard says the search is a tough job, they are 500 feet in the air and trying to spot someone's head and it's tough to do. they say there is a they could find a survivor. john lee called his wife just before he climbed on board. >> he just wanted to make sure that we had a chance to speak with each other. he was going to be back on friday. >> came on shore and we have a scanner checking the shoreline for anybody that came ashore but the water temperature being as high as it is, it's certainly possible. >> seven u.s. tou
