we just spoke with alameda county fire.ot an update on their work and how they're doing and the conditions there and the weather described as very challenging today. they left from livermore yesterday. this is video the fire department gave me this morning. those firefighters are doing structure protection and cutting lines today. they are from hayward fire, alameda county, fremont, oakland and east bay regional parks. the rim fire has crossed highway 120 year yosemite, as you said, only about 5% contained. two residences and seven outbuildings have burned, 2500 structures threatened and it's hot, up to 91 degrees there. lad number of camps with ties san jose, berkeley and san francisco, all evacuated. high school students from berkeley returned quickly, saying they only had about 15 minutes to get out. the special ops chief from alameda county says these types of wild land fires are a real challenge, especially in this weather. >> the weather changes, the nation of fire changes, and this happens to be in relatively unfrien

cate caugiran is on the ferry from alameda to san francisco. and anne makovec is with commuters at the dublin- pleasanton bart station. but first, we begin with elizabeth wenger. >> man, we just got word of a new crash now on the san mateo bridge. this is not what we wanted to see because obviously the san mateo bridge is going to be take the bulk of that commuter traffic detouring around the bay bridge closure. so again, we are just getting word of this. it's a multi-vehicle crash. it is in the commute direction on westbound 92 somewhere along the flat section of the span. chp is heading to the scene. a yellow cab is reportedly blocking one lane. so right now, the drive time is 17 minutes. but expect those delays to continue to grow if you are heading out towards 101. we are seeing the backups from the southbound 880 approach jamming up towards san leandro. and towards the castro valley. that westbound 580 and northbound 238 looks slow at this hour, as well. golden gate bridge a lot of fog across the span as well but the richmond/san rafael br
