the alameda county office of education recently sent a letter to the district saying that the district could very well be out of cash by november. if they don't do something. now, the next 6 months the board has considered merging 10 schools that currently share campuses. but many parents and teachers are against the idea the district plans to take a final vote on this merger plan later this month. another san jose school district is set to close several campuses because of a budget shortfall there as well. committee in the franklin mckinley school district is recommending closing 3 of the district 16 schools because of declining enrollment. the depletion of one-time covid funding and and almost 23 million dollar budget shortfall. so the schools recommended for closure at the end of the 2024. 25 school year include loss. our bullis literacy and technology academy ramblewood elementary and mckinley elementary board members will make a final decision on february. 11th. >> happening today, san francisco mayor daniel lurie, host a celebration for black history month. that will happen at no

this morning, the first meeting of the alameda county for all ad hoc committee gets underway. that group was created by the county board of supervisors and vows to prioritize inclusion, equity and opportunity for all residents. meanwhile, this was the scene last night in san francisco as people protested mass deportations. demonstrators started at bart plaza and marched through the city, and members of the group told us they are speaking out against ice operations and mass deportations happening across the country. but also, they say they're fighting for loved ones who are too afraid to leave home. san mateo may be poised to be the latest peninsula city, calling for the removal of the county's embattled sheriff today. leaders are expected to hold a no confidence vote, demanding sheriff cristina corpus be removed from her position. they would join leaders in millbrae and san carlos who have already approved similar resolutions. earlier this week, leaders across the county joined deputies union in supporting the measure to remove her. corpus has repeatedly denied the allegations

he is live for us from alameda tonight. hi. >> answer. i'm a good evening right now. the rain has stopped. still a bit of wind, but nothing like we saw two hours ago when we had massive downpours. i spoke with east bay regional park district. they're out patrolling areas making sure there are no downed trees behind me. you can see this tree has been coned off. you can see branches came down. i don't think that happened today, but one reason the city and the park district are keeping an eye on crown beach where we're at is because in december, high tides and the storm eroded huge portions of alameda's beach, which stretches about two and a half miles. the park district says about 1200 tons of rocks were placed along the shoreline to stabilize the slope and prevent more land from being washed away. we spoke to some residents. they've noticed the work. they say it's making a difference. >> they just rebuilt the whole bank over there that was washed away. they put these huge boulders over there to shore that up. and then i think around there at crab cove area as well. so
