(steve) a frequently traveled road in alameda county has reopened after a mudslide. officials with the county public works agency say palomares road has reopened between palo verde road in castro valley and niles canyon road in fremont. the road was closed because of a mudslide as well as sinkholes, culvert failures and storm debris. crews have stabilized the slope at the location of the mudslide and one lane is now open. officials say drivers should still be careful in the area.
