according to calfire, just 3 cities and alameda county permit the use of any type of fireworks compared to 2 in san mateo, one in santa clara and 9. many in the bay area counties. now those caught using or selling them and those areas they can face hefty fines and jail time. authorities across the bay area are stepping up their enforcement of illegal fireworks this week. a collaboration between multiple police departments as well as neighborhood watch groups lead to more than 800 pounds of illegal fireworks being taken off the streets of hayward. police say each of the fireworks you see in this video is worth anywhere from the 60 to $190. meanwhile, in oakland, police have made some major fireworks bus as well. officers confiscated more than 100 pounds of illegal fireworks just yesterday along with about $38,000 in cash tips from community members led officers to the stash. those fireworks have been turned over to the oakland fire department. so they can be destroyed to safely. if you see fire. there is a safe way to do so. if you want to see them in the east bay, the concord pavilion.

right now at bethany reservoir and alameda county.n the hillsides that surround it on the rocky shores and in the water itself. to me, it looked like a third world country to be honest residents of nearby mountain house came with cameras to document it. they believe high winds carried trash from the altamont landfill because the reservoir is mostly closed for dam reconstruction. they say no one knew to complain sooner. a huge amount of the blowing trash out here is getting lodged on the rocks, and then some emerged in the water and workers out here. tell us this isn't even a bad day. the landfill that sits up on the hill is supposed to have containment fencing for debris. they're missing a huge section of their fencing, and it's been out for the last 34 months. community members tried reaching out to california state parks and to waste management that runs the landfill but didn't have much luck. kind of getting the brush off was frustrating. um so we took it to the streets. we took it that use that water. they began organizing a commu
