a recall effort for alameda county d.a. pamela price. about 90 minutes ago, we learned that a committee called save alameda for everyone filed the official paperwork with the county's election office. that means the group intends to fund raise and collect signatures to recall the d.a. it's been six months since pam price was voted into office on a platform of criminal justice reform. since then, she's faced heavy criticism over plea bargains and ending sentencing enhancements. we reached out to her office, have not heard back. the last bay area d.a. to be recalled is san francisco's chesa boudin last year. the d.a. who replaced boudin is also facing pressure and calls to resign. brooke jenkins is being criticized after dropping criminal charges against a san francisco cop. today a group gathered outside the hall of justice in support of sean moore and his family. back in 2017, moore was shot by officers on his front porch after a noise complaint. here is the body cam video there. investigators later determined he physically attacked the

henry lee live tonight in alameda county. henry, appreciate that. san jose police right now investigating to unrelated homicides that happened over the past few days. police say they arrested 42 year old emmanuel jermaine in relation to the first homicide. he's suspected of stabbing and killing his mother on friday morning at a home on south 14th street. the motive in that case remains under investigation. jermaine is being held without bail. police say the number of killings so far this year in the city similar to last year, they're basically on par. we're at number 19 right now. at this time last year, we had 18 to about the same number as have been made in connection to the second case where a man was found shot on queens lane near old bayshore highway. he was pronounced dead at the scene. the victim's name has not been released. investigators still trying to determine what led to that shooting. the run up to independence day, presenting a challenge for first responders. warm temperatures and quickly drying vegetation, creating just the right fue

alameda county fire department says started at 10, 30 on carter lane. it took about an hour for them to put it out. they don't know how it started and no word on any injuries just yet. we have developing news, a sacramento man now behind bars after being arrested in connection to a stabbing at levi stadium. aloha villanueva start with attempted murder. stabbing happened sunday night during a soccer match between mexico qatar. police say that incident started as a fight and it was a man getting stabbed video taken during that match shows the chaos after the stabbing santa clara police say they were able to track down villanueva. thanks to surveillance video and witnesses that were there. well, it was a violent 4th of july in the east bay hayward. police say in a span of just 12 hours over 4 stabbings, 4 shootings and one stabbing. 2 people were killed. 14 others had to go to the hospital. police say one of the victims killed was found stabbed to death around 8 o'clock on tennyson wrote 2 hours later, there was a mass shooting on rancor place. this is 6 p

and deputies in alameda county confiscated more than 400 pounds of illegal fireworks on the 4th county fire department says they responded to 2 fires on the 4th that most likely caused by fireworks. and in livermore, police say they confiscated 30 pounds of illegal fireworks from june. 30th to july 4th during that period, they responded to more than 100 fireworks related calls and they say more than 80 of them came in on the night of the 4th. >> take a look at all of the garbage left behind at lake tahoe is beaches after the 4th of july celebrations. environmental groups are out there yesterday, cleaning it up and they say that this problem seems to be getting worse every year. more than 6300 pounds of garbage was found at zephyr cove yesterday morning, 300 to 500 pounds and it was collected from the water. >> there was nothing accidental about literally pulled off the beach. it's just, you know, gut-wrenching and it's sad to see. i would much rather have problems be getting better rather than worse. >> look his bags of it. and they say they're already planning right now. what to do fo

let's start with the effort to recall alameda county's da, pamela price. organizers of the effort and community members sa her approach has been concerned and in some cases angry. over the past several months we have made many attempts to intervie the da. she has told us know every time until now. for whatever reason, she was ready to talk. da price sat down with us. here is the interview. >> reporter: family members and victims are saying decisions ar unfair that were made for them. sentences that were given are excessively lenient, and perpetrators are favored over victims. what is your response to that? >> i feel. definitely, my heart goes out to people who have los loved ones in this community. w at the district attorney's office are very, very committed to making sure we are providing the best services. some people are not able to actually appreciate the work that we do. >> reporter: the work of pamela price has been focused on progressive reforms including alternatives to incarceration and not charging juveniles as adults. now, official paperwork to

it was a busy friday night at the alameda county fair. people coming out from all over the bay area to start their fourth of july weekend. >> we come to the fair every year. it's been a family tradition. my grandmother always brought us. reporter: the heatwave is supposed to last for several days. >> it's a lot. first heatwave of the summer and it's intense. reporter: people won't let the rising temperatures stop them from having fun. many of the water rides were packed. some choosing to go on more than once. >> at least 10. reporter: they were only one draw friday night though. after the sunset, there was a firework and drum show, the biggest one that organizers have ever done. >> last year, it was 100 drones. reporter: the fireworks bring out crowds every fourth of july. a lot of folks are just as excited to see the drones. not only physical technology but also because they are a safer way to enjoy the holiday. >> wildfires are a big risk. luckily we are escaping the smoke from the canadian wildfires. i'm hoping we can keep that going.

now. >> the recall campaign is just in the signature gathering stage, but it's happening as the alameda countytrict attorney is just six months into her position. pamela price is facing criticism from the advocacy group safe alameda for everyone and for her approach fighting crime. they're the group that filed the paperwork launching the effort. she ran on a platform of criminal justice reform and what they're seeing are plea deals and dropped charges. one of the most notable cases is that of this little toddler jasper wu who was killed by a stray bullet in a freeway shootout. d.a. price took life without parole off the table for the two suspects. the d.a.'s office referred us to price's campaign office which has not yet responded to our request for comment, but here's how she countered that criticism previously. >> the narrative of my opponents is a failed strategy. we know that what they're talking about does not work, does not keep us safe. i won because people did not trust this office. >> safe alameda for everyone isn't speaking publicly just yet, but we do know from other recall efforts

ashley by the way, is unincorporated alameda county, kind of near san leandro.er reported all three people in the car were wearing ski masks and they ran away. two of the men got into a fight with the chp officer. and we're told that shots were fired. that's all officials will say at this point. but they say they'll give us more information as soon as it becomes available. well, law enforcement in washington, dc on high alert this weekend. they're looking for the person who set off explosives at three businesses without within minutes of each other early sunday morning. david spoon has this story. as well as the violence in nearby baltimore and in chicago, at least 30 people were shot this weekend, three killed. the victims range in age from just 5 to 85 years old. a similar violence scene at a block party in baltimore, maryland, where another 30 were shot early sunday morning. most of the victims in the mass shooting were teens. police are still searching for multiple suspects. this was a reckless, cowardly act of violence that has taken two lives and altered m

all three were killed at the hands of police in alameda county. mario gonzalez died in alameda. police custody in 2021. body cam video shows the 26 year old was restrained face down on the ground for more than five minutes. august nine or augie gonzalez was shot by hayward police in 2018. police said they thought he was armed with a knife. it was later determined he had a razor blade and erik salgado was shot and killed during a confrontation with the chp in oakland in 2020. district attorney pamela price announced earlier this year the office would reopen eight cases, including those of mario gonzalez and augie gonzales. but family members said little has happened since pamela price ran on a platform of police accountability and holding cops accountable. and simply just reopening the cases isn't enough. because if you're just reopening the cases, all you're doing is retraumatizing our family over and over again. and we need to see actual change happening. the da's office did not choose to reopen erik salgado's case. salgado was shot 16 times when officers say he rammed his stol
