let's get right to that. eaking news in alameda county, striking workers caused major disruptions to courtroom proceedings for the day. nbc bay area's bob redell joining us live from outside the hayward hall of justice in bob redell county, actually closed that courthouse. so what kind of impact are we talking about for those businesses before the court? well, this yeah, marcus, it's definitely a huge disruption for people who have business in alameda county courts this morning. you can see right behind me. these are alameda county superior court clerks who are on a one day strike. and as a result, they have forced the closure of the hayward hall of justice. this is what people have been showing up to this morning, unaware that the court is going to be shut down. you see, courtrooms are closed. there's a sign that talks about the limited operations and what you do if you have business before the court here today, and it's because there's not enough people in there who can work. the court tells us this strike is impacting civil cases like traffic and family law, not only here, but othe

they walked off the job and they picketed outside courthouses here in alameda county, alameda county, including the hayward hall of justice behind me. the one day strike shut down courtrooms and disrupted the processing of court filings and other documents. the workers union has been negotiating for a new contract since before their last one expired this past december. workers say they're understaffed and overworked. they say new hires aren't trained adequately and say they aren't paid enough. portola is an issue. i mean, we live in the bay area. the cost of living folks can't afford eggs, folks can't afford gas. so cost of living is always an issue. but more importantly, some of our huge issues centered more around training. well, basically getting poorer every year. no cost of living, but the inflation is still going up and our pay is not going up. a spokesperson for superior court says training and staffing have not been the union's focus during negotiations, and at the courts have done their best to retain workers in the face of an annual budget cut of nearly $4.5 million, adding

alameda county court clerks will go on strike today.t services at criminal, civil and juvenile courts. court employees, including clerks and legal processing assistants, have been working without a contract since the end of december, when it expired. a protest by the union is planned today in hayward at the hall of justice. the union says about 20% of the jobs are not filled, and current employees are doing jobs that they are not trained for or qualified to do. we're learning more about a cult like group connected to a series of killings across the country and ties to the bay area. three of the members appeared in court yesterday. prosecutors say they are part of the group called citizens and connected to six killings. one of the members went to uc berkeley. the group is believed to have met online sharing beliefs of anarchy and have become increasingly violent. san francisco's richmond district will be one of the first to get a new speed camera later today. the cameras will be installed at geary and seventh. this is one of dozens of in
