giuffre names a well known lawyer, alan dershowitz as one of those with whom she was forced to have sex. dershowitz has repeatedly denied the accusations. a new name surfaced in the documents. among them, former senate majority leader, george mitchell and former new mexico governor, bill richardson. richardson denied the allegations. he said "governor richardson has never been contacted by any party regarding this lawsuit." to be clear, in governor richardson's limited interactions with mr. epstein, he never saw him in the presence of young or underage girls. the documents reveal that in a 2016 deposition for the laws, epstein repeatedly refused to answer questions about alleged sex trafficking invoking his fifth amendment right to avoid self incrimination. epstein was arrested july 6 of this year and has pleaded not guilty to sex trafficking charges. >> raymond: thanks, jonathan. joining me now is alan dershowitz, the former counsel to jeffery epstein and harvard law professor. thanks for being here. you actually called for these documents to be unsealed. the documents include an e-mai

she was alleging that she was abused by former governor bill richardson, by prince andrew, by alan dershowitzdenied these allegations. some of them denying they even knew her. where does it stand for those people who were accused? these high-profile names? >> they're in a really terrible situation, because in some -- with respect to some aspects, lawsuits may not even be filed against them but their names are going to be prominently managed, probably for years to come, agency the epstein lawsuits wind their way through the courts. but you could also expect that there could be actions against other prominent individuals' files, as lawyer s pour through discovery materials now sealed by the courts and as investigation into epstein's background continue. i'll tell you, this case is going to be a huge highly publicized case that's going to go on for years. the only thing that is as big is the o.j. simpson which there were two trials, a civil trial that followed the acquittal. i think you'll see the epstein case living on in the public media for many years to come. >> paul callan, and ellie honig,

that they know that they won't have to potentially be called for witnesses in a criminal trial, alan dershowitz and other individuals that were associated with this i think have to be breathing easier, although i'm sure no one is happy about the death of anyone. >> attorney general william barr's reportedly livid. in a statement he said that epstein's death raises serious questions. he is also saying he will work with the inspector general who is opening a separate investigation. how do you see that investigation differing from the fbi investigation? will they be looking into different things? >> well, i think what the oig will be looking at is potential misconduct or malfeasance or a lack of diligence on the part of doj personnel. that is, i think, going to be the focus of the oig investigation and the oig is sort of a quasi-independent body within the justice department and well-respected non-partisan organization and that said, it's not a full-blown criminal inquiry, and i do think the fbi investigation into this will determine whether or not there's any public corruption which i think is a

and so and interestingly i just got off the phone from alan dershowitz who as you know used to representwas pivotal in him getting a non pros cushion agreement back in 2008 that stopped these victims from being heard. and he said he agrees with judge berman's position today. he says victims have a right to be heard. so i think, you know, this is going to be an extraordinary moment. my source is telling me as you said at least a dozen victims coming forward -- >> very powerful. they were so young at the time. now, the attorney general william barr, he's promised to bring anyone who helped epstein run his trafficking ring, they'll be pursued. do you expect charges, and who will be the likely targets of that? >> look, we know and i know from my reporting in the period that the government was looking at, 2003 to 2005, that maxwell has been named by some of the victims as someone who went out and allegedy procured women for jeffrey epstein. whether or not these names come up today will be interesting to see. >> come up today from the testimony of his victims. >> yes. it will be interesting to
