thank you. >> host: alan gomez, what do you make of the sentiment?>> guest: look at cultural aspect of this, i see makeup of this immigration wave isis i something like unlike the country has been used to.en u america, since it is inception obviously has seen wave after wave of immigration. one of the last 40 or 50 years predominantly hispanic and predominantly from central andentr south america. that is absolutely changing way things are happening in this country. you see a lot more spanish on prime time programing andng a commercials, things like that.ngs so that is sort of culture clash is something that has been incredibly difficult. with the number of undocumented immigrants and legal immigrants coming from central and south america, people in theand northeast part of the country probably weren't used to a lot of hispanics running around,of h suddenly have large growing communities of them. so yeah, there is good and there's bad of that. there is a lot of people who would not like to see those changes but i think more you see those folks coming

so this is a real troublesome moment for the white house. >> and alan gomez, what about the 5 million on deportations, they are caught in the middle? >> yeah they have absolutely no idea what to do right now. across the country for the last couple of weeks there have been workshops to help get their paperwork and applications ready to submit. so far today we haven't heard anything from the department of homeland security advising them on what to do. immigration advocates are urging them to continue to get the paperwork ready once something goes because they think once it gets to the fifth circuit court of appeals they could restart the process again. >> pete what about -- who was it who actually sought the injunction from the federal judge? >> it was 26 states led by the state of texas. and their argument is normally speaking immigration is a federal matter and they said look, this burden falls on us if this policy goes through, we're the ones that have to issue new licenses and issue work permits. we have more enforcement and it could be a magnet to bring more immigration in and the

i want the move on the alan gomez now who reports on the immigration issue regularly. alan, what is the practical effect of this going to be on the immigrant community in this country? >> well the practical effect is that you have basically thousands of people who had their paperwork ready their applications ready to go. they were ready to run tomorrow to the post office and start mailing these into the department of homeland security. obviously they woke up to this news this morning. so there's been a lot of... i've been talking with a lot of them today, a lot of just painful confusion throughout that community. some of them are just sort of giving up and saying, all right, we kind of figured something like this was going to happen so they're moving on, but a lot of them are trying to get out the message that an appeals court could overturn this ruling, that this program can still go into effect at some point, so there's a lot of action going on the urge them to continue to keep their paperwork to, continue getting ready so if and when that day comes when the program

host: alan gomez, what you make of what the attorney general had to say? guest: i think much like these undocumented immigrants i were watching the case, the white house was aware that this is likely a possibility. the judge that george w. bush appointed was definitely on the conservative side of things. you read this opinion that he released. it was very well thought out very detailed, abortive, when hundred 23 page opinion. throughout, he calls the president disingenuous and what he calls was not a big change the immigration laws. i won point, he said that the move indoors the dictates of congress, but actively asked to afford them. it was a very strongly worded opinion. it is not very subtle -- sort of what his views are on this idea of the president making these moves. throughout his opinion, he cites all the costs that these states will suffer because of these legalize undocumented immigrants on health care, education, unemployment benefits. a lot of immigration advocates were very upset because he did not want to include any of the economic benefits
