that's where alan wang is for us live. alan? >> the fire started around 9:00 and it got so hot that part of the roof collapsed into the 6th floor. now, we are told that at least 20 residents needed medical attention. there is a medical tent set up beyond this fire truck, and they are triaging those patients. this is the san francisco an apart apartment. it is low income with a lot of disabled residents, and firefighters were plucking them out of the top floors. there have been reports of people trapped on the top floor. and we know firefighters were going door-to-door trying to rescue those people. we are told the elevators were out, the lights were blinking on and off, and the smoke was very thick in there. those people who escaped stood on the sidewalk looking up, watching nervously knowing many of their neighbors might still be inside. >> we had to grab a couple of towels to put over our face so we can come down the stirwell and get out. >> do you think there are still people up there? >> yes, there was. i don't know, they mi
