the storm itself in the center of the storm is drop do you think from the gulf of alaska. so that's coming from the northwest. it's going to tap into what we've been calling the atmospheric river. this flow of abundant moisture coming from well out in the south pacific to generally towards the coastal areas of california. not so much aimed at the bay area. as the low taps into the moisture, it picks up some of the milder air flowing in that the low will probably bring us some strong gusty wind and heavy rainfall, but not very, very chilly temperatures. the storm at the moment ranks 3 on our storm impact scale. we expect it to be stormy all day wednesday, perhaps even into thursday. 1 to 2 inches of rain likely for most areas, but up to 2, maybe even 4 inches of rain in the some of the north bay locations. 4 to 6 over the coastal mountain ranges. gusts generally 45 to 65 miles per hour. here is the forecast animation starting at 5:00 tomorrow afternoon. notice that as we get into the late night hours just before midnight, we'll see rain beginning to push in. widespread rain
