joining us now is the chairman and ceo of pfizer, albert bourla.le group of brilliant scientists that did it. there were some lessons learned of how we all did it. i felt the organization was prepared to do right for the occasion for something like that. the second is that thinking big can make anything possible possible. many times we were hearing this cannot be done. many times we said it must be done. the third thing, more important than everything, i think the lesson learned is the power of the science. the power of human ingenuity particularly in the private sector setting. so, i'm very happy that we were able to do it. >> so now i have to ask what are some of the hurdles that you foresee ahead? i guess part of making a vaccine successful is making sure it gets to everybody who needs it before different strains of the coronavirus take over or different parts of the world don't have it. what do you see as the hurdles ahead in terms of getting the world in order as it pertains to the coronavirus and what are some of the concerns you might have a

that was albert bourla, pfizer's ceo, michael dolston, our chief scientist, two other colleagues andlite office that we have in connecticut and we knew that this was the day that the fda committee was meeting to determine whether we had an effective vaccine. and we gathered. we were anxious. we tried to pass the time just waiting to get the text that the committee had met with their results. we gathered in the conference room and we saw our own colleague, our head of vaccines, dr. katherine jansen, come and give us the readout of this meeting. the line was crackling a little bit and her voice came over and said we have good news. it was an incredible moment. i get chills even now thinking about it. she then relayed the good news, which wasn't just good news but great news about this extraordinary vaccine. we jumped up, we cheered. we weren't supposed to, but we hugged. and it's a moment i'll never forget in my life. >> how has you being a woman in this role contributed differently to the way in which you communicate about this vaccine and the strides that pfizer has made? >> well, i'

albert bourla, pfizer ceo also giving us an update on worldwide supply for next year. >> it's going to be north of ths billions for this year, capacity for a billion dose this is a good enough to supply very big part of humanity. >> now, as for him, he got his second shot this week and told us today he feels quote liberated. shep >> and meg, there's a new therapeutic drug that seems really promising as well >> yeah, it was another antibody drug that was shown in a clinical trial to significantly reduce the risk of hospitalization and death by 85% it's made by a small company called vir biotechnology, partnered with british drug giant glaxosmithkline. if they're successful, it would be the third company to bring one of these drugs to market in the u.s. like the others, it's given by iv infusion and patients have to take it soon after diagnosis so it's been hard for a lot of patients to get these antibody drugs. experts are hopeful access will improve because even as vaccines roll out, and it's hoped fewer and fewer people get sick, the disease is unlikely to disappear completely >>> dr.
