this is an apartment building at alcatraz and king street.e roof but it's too early to say that fireworks were to blame. then further east, half a dozen grass fires, this is all out in east contra costa county. the skies were lit up with illegal fireworks. there were a lot of them and a lot of fires on the ground. this is mainly out on the bay point area. no injuries reported there. no structures burned and again, firefighters say it's too early whether fireworks were to blame but it would be quite a coincidence that it happened just on 4th of july. and then two house fires in brentwood, not fireworks this time but they think the barbecue grill is to blame. no injuries but very busy firefighters overnight especially in the east bay. other top story is being covered by terry mcsweeney. he is in our newsroom. what do you got for us? >> the story is taking place waters off of baja, california. a fishing boat sank. one tourist is confirmed dead, 19 have been rescued. as of all, 16 mexican crew members survived. they grabbed on to coolers and life

the fog cleared by midday, kept the temperatures cool for the escape from alcatraz biathlon this morningnd brought lots of sunshine in a warmup to the ball park this afternoon so that's pretty good timing. this culprit for the fog continuation has been the eddie off the marin coast which has managed to keep the fog glued to the shortly here. most of the weekend. it's been just over my shoulder here, a minor feature, but it has a big impact on. we'll look for that low cloud deck to move back in. we had them for the low to mid- 80, 70s in the east bay, the pen anyone sue sue la. back to the coastline. several features moving in our direction. one this little ripple coming from the north, bring cooler air into the area for the beginning of the week. nothing dramatic, a sudden little change. subtropical moisture moving up which will move into the area for the weekend. could bring with it a chance solve some showers. but for the next couple days we'll look for a deeper marine layer and a slight cooling out there. again, pretty close to today's temperatures as we continue with our below-normal

see the bridge in the distance and alcatraz. it is down low.e careful if you are headed over any of the bridges. visibility has been reduced. it's 56 both in san francisco and oakland, with 61 in fremont. 60 in concord. so we are looking at temperatures a couple degrees warmer than yesterday morning. does that mean afternoon highs a little warmer? maybe a couple degrees here and there in our inland valleys. we are looking for the drizzle this morning. and then still the cooler than average temperatures. but we are looking at the numbers coming up a few degrees but more warming by the middle of the week. we've had this nemesis, this area of low pressure that has brought a cooler than normal air massi and the low clouds. you see how it is continuing to drop to the south. eventually it lifts on out and that will bring a change in our weather pattern. we will see high pressure dominate the weather picture for much of the bay area in the days ahead after tuesday. so today we will see the clouds peel back, sunshine by 11:00 except it stops right here

san francisco at alcatraz, a lot of people heading out of fisherman's wharf for these fireworks.urrently looking at relatively clear skies. 82 in san jose. 82 in sunnyville. 66 in san frn cisco. mid-80s from nevada into sant rosa. 94 in livermore. in danville where they have the historic parade and fireworks lifting off, the hottest spot there. as for tonight, 60s here in san francisco. we may get patchy fog coming in. not the widespread coverage event like years best. one of the best viewings we've had in probably about three to four years at this point. 70s here in san jose. clear and mild. in the east bay, danville, walnut creek, livermore, that's the warm spot. mid to upper 70s at 9:00 p.m. tonight and very clear skies. tonight we'll call it mild here. we do have some monsoonal moisture well to the south. we're not expecting any of that to move up into our mountains as we head throughout tonight. tomorrow we may see a few thunderstorms pop. nothing major. as we head into tomorrow, a lot of you getting back into the grind of work after having today off. we'll start off with 59

today people are asking me where other ferries were, where businesses were how to get to pier 39, alcatraz. so a lot of it is customer service with the people here involved also. >> reporter: and the people that take the ferry are going to be paying more for the service once it resumes tomorrow because fares are going up by 5%. so for today, as the strike is in place, here in larkspur they are going to have buses running from here to the golden gate bridge toll terminal and you can get another bus to go elsewhere in san francisco. there is not going to be a bus bridge from the sausalito ferry terminal so be aware of that today. luckily, we have the buses running and as elizabeth always says, we have friday light traffic and holiday light traffic as well so that's going to make things a little easier. but within the next few hours, we are going to see a lot of disappointed passengers showing up here terminal, i can only imagine. and we will hopefully be talking to them for you. back to you guys. >> like we said before, call your boss. can't get to work. enjoy the long weekend. >> reporter:

what a beautiful shot over alcatraz. a clear start to your monday.e're going to check the roads and see if those are clear. an accident is it in the east bay with a produce truck? >> it's in the south bay. the east bay has its own problems. but the south bay has the produce truck northbound 101 coming in to san jose at bailey. our photographer made her move down there. that's the jackknifed rig. there are some chp on the scene, there is slowing, a lot more than we saw about 15 minutes ago. as she pans to the left you see the build-up coming in toward  bailey avenue out of morgan hill. slowing from about coyote creek. if she can make her way to the right north of the accident you might get a glimpse of all of the big rig tow truck and the rest of the equipment so it's not just the rig and two cruisers. there is a car there that might have been dinged. i'm not sure. a big rig tow, a bigger rig tow, both there hopefully going to help get this out. we end with our live shot from the chopper. we'll see slowing at the toll plaza. the metering lights may

already in full force over alcatraz, you can see what little formation we did have of the marine layer. it was 1,000 feet deep. that's it. and as a result we're left with a little bit of haze over the coastal mountains, we're looking really good. our bridges a little bit of fog developing this morning. let's help you plan your fourth of july celebration. this is what we're looking at. in the east bay, 9:30, we start to see the fireworks go off, low 80s. the south bay and the north bay, upper 70s and the peninsula, you might need jacket. a little breeze blowing about 5 to 10 miles per hour. low 60s in the city tonight. this is what we're looking at as we head to the midsection of your week. a little trough of low pressure is going to dip in. that will bring about significant cooling, back to the 80s. we're going to have to get through two muggy days especially the south bay. monsoonal moisture to the north. and that means we could see a little bit of thunderstorm activity right here in the bay area. the best chance will be in the south bay tomorrow afternoon and wednesday afternoon. 65
