alcatraz has, we have had an embarkation site for the alcatraz island since 1972 at the board of san francisco. it is an incredibly popular place to go for visitors to the city. it's a wonderful national park, and we have worked very closely with our partners to develop an agreement that really is going to improve the visitor experience on the embarkation site, provide more retail, interpretation, get us a lot of investment into our pier, and the concessioner and the retail operator. this agreement is going to transform this embarkation site. i am here today not only with my team, rebecca and jay, but also with our partners, laura from the national park service, greg moore from the park's conservancy, and i see mark buell is here and sonny from supervisor peskin's office has been helping a great deal as well. we also have provided to you letters of support from the inland boats union, pier 39, blue and gold, spur, sf travel and all the partners that share an interest here en the alcatraz experience. so, right now passengers board vessels to get to alcatraz from this area between 31 a

here is a look at san francisco and looking down on alcatraz and the bay and you can see much of the city. we are getting that sunshine all the way down to the south bay and across the bay area with our temperatures now mostly in the low to mid-60s. we do have 71 degrees in antioch and in the north bay reaching into the upper 60s. our temperatures a little bit warmer today compares to yesterday and tomorrow we'll be even warmer. we are getting a boost on temperatures as high pressure the middle of the afternoon. keep in mind those temperatures will heat up fast. earlier you can go be the better if you can go within the next hour or so or you may have to wait until closer around sunset. before you step out, make sure you take the allergy medication. the tree and the gas pollen low. ragweed have gone up and we have wheat pollen that's moderate at this point. a reminder before you spend that extra time outside. dublin, maybe you are on your way to the bart station, our temperatures will reach in the mid-80s and we'll hit the high temperature around 3:00 tonight. the fog is clearing away

something that was challenged, related to exploring a new ferry service betwe between sausalito and alcatraz. when the on-demand service be covered in e.i.r. or would we need a new environmental review? >> the document included ferry service. as far as on-demand, i would have to do some additional investigation into that. and, quite frankly, those are the questions that we hope to get answered out of this small vessel study. there's a lot of traffic in the bay. one option that i believe it's tide line marine was using from sausalito to east bay was crowd sourcing. they would put up a webpage. when their boat capacity, 30 or 50, was reached, they would offer a service. so there was a window of, let's say, 1:00 to 3:00 on a saturday. and then they met that demand level, they would run that service. it's not p.u.c.-controlled or on a set schedule. we need to investigate the conflict issues within the port area as far as trafficking and controlling the traffic going back and forth. have an agreement with the port on the san francisco side for where they would land. and, of course, on the treasur

cruise ship terminal, the traffic, without the horn blower wasn't there yet when they were doing the alcatraz cruises. our thing is the amount of foot traffic. it has to be one of the highest foot traffic areas in san francisco, that with the streetcars and amount of traffic. we just feel the place has been completely under utilized for years. we live across the street, 152 lombard and samson. i have been in the neighborhood for years and go to pier 33 and hill stone and go to all those restaurants in the area. it's just been an under utilized space there. so in the future, the future projections are based more on doing catering in the community. hopefully engaging more with the neighborhood groups with the hotels we are going to build in the future years. i was on the board of the fisherman's wharf association for 7-8 years. from the community benefit district. we have already reached out to them as far as working with the hotel groups and stuff like that. we see catering as our biggest growth part of it. the problem with butterfly, they had a very small bar in there, probably 8-10% of their

i was training for the escape for -- from alcatraz and i biked all over the city. one of the scariest moments on my bike was on ocean avenue, or actually, on the grey highway. i was riding my bike, at the car started to come into the lane as they were turning bright and i had to pound on the side of the fan so as not to get run over. i understand how important bicycle safety is and how important it is to make sure we are implementing changes in our roadways a cyclist feel safe and pedestrians feel safe so that our kids are safe. so to see this unravel today, to see all of this today is a very -- it is a long time coming. we have to do more of this all over the city. this project enhanced safety for pedestrians, cyclist, motorist and transit riders and it made it more beautiful. we have a newly planted -- wanted median and street trees in a public plaza which will be great to. especially for the target shoppers over there. and i think residents will also be able to walk safely down the streets and enjoy this new area. i just want to say that the collaboration of all
