companies range from small startups like me go to large companies like alcoa or dow agro. one of the reasons for this committee hearing i believe is the recognition we need more stem professionals in the united states and for me there are two key things that we need to accomplish. one is to increase the pipeline come increase the number of students interested in stem which is largely what we are talking about today but secondly we also need to let the students enter college to graduate more of them and help them be successful. as far as the pipeline i think programs like first robotics curriculum and many other programs do a fantastic job of energizing students and helping students see engineering computer science as a possible career option which i think is absolutely critical but i also think it's equally important to strengthen our math, science and i would add computer science curriculum in the high school so when they get to college they are prepared to be successful in a very rigorous curriculum required for all of them. as far as retention and graduation rates if we
