i particularly appreciate the inclusion of the whereas dealing with alex nieto, whereas alex nieto was killed by sf p.d. officers on march 21, 2014, where he was shot nearly ten times and none of the names of the officers involved in his killing have been released seriously undermined the trust between members and the community and the police. i would like to suggest an amendment adding a resolve that san francisco convene an independent public inquiry into the nieto killing with full investigative powers. calling for an independent investigation into police killings of unarmed people is a key demand of many of the recognized legal and civil rights groups including the american with civil liberties union and those incorporated into this resolution. an independent investigation into the nieto killing would be a concrete action of san francisco to take to implement the spirit of this resolution. >> public speaker: i wanted to speak actually in support of two items, item 52 and 53 and they are related. as far as item 52, i'm sure all the people behind me will have the things to say maybe

alex was a gentle soul. he was a security guard that i watched several times to being involved in altercations where he was the peace maker and there was no kind of violence from this man. he dealt with people who were intoxicated and he calmly escorted them out of his place of business. i'm really disappointed that some supervisors here have publically spoken about the issues of violence in new york but not heard that they are disappointed with what happened to alex. these are two colored young men that were killed in san francisco and we are sweeping them underneath the rug as if they were nothing. i'm sorry that it does not highlight the beauty of san francisco but we need to remember that this too, we are ferguson also >> public speaker: this ought to be a permanent fixture in san francisco or any city. i would hope that my representative in district 5 agrees that this is a moment in san francisco to be strong and align itself more with the concerns over the lives of people with color instead of the feel

good morning, alex. >> reporter: good morning, to you. the rush is on to fix the huge sink hole in san francisco before more rain arrives later on today. we will show you the progress crews have been making out here. you can see it's quite an under taking here. as it turns out, this huge sink hole was caused by a broken storm drain line nearby and all of that water eroded the sand underneath the road and that is what led to the collapse. the 20-foot by 20-foot crater opened up during wednesday's rainstorm here at the intersection of sixth and lake in the city's richmond district. the sink hole runs about nine feet deep. gas and water surface was restored to the neighborhood late yesterday and crews will spend today trying to fix sewer lines in this area. the work to repair the big sink hole probably won't be completed though in its entirety until sometime early next week. in the meantime, there is quite a bit of storm damage up in marin county to tell you about. flood waters seeping through the front door of the champagne salon and day sp
