joining us now is johnson & johnson ceo alex gorsky. thank you for joining us this is very good news tell us about what's gone into this and why you are so optimistic about it. >> andrew, joe, becky, thank you very much for having me on, though it's always tough to follow senator cruz. we're very excited about the announcement that we're making this morning about the partnership we're doing with barta, the government agency responsible for pandemics and vaccines and what we're doing to accelerate our development but also our production for something against covid-19 really, this started decades ago. we've been working in the immunology field for some time we've been working in areas like sars, ebola, hiv i think what gives us confidence is based upon the work that we have done with this vaccine platform, we have very good early indicators that not only can we depend on this to be a safe vaccine base, but also one that will ultimately be effective based on all the early testing and modeling we've been doing. >> we expect to begin first hu

joined by the chairman and ceo of johnson & johnson, alex gorsky. thank you for joining us. most of us woke up this morning to what we think is pretty hopeful news. you have a lead candidate together with hhs for a vaccine. how hopeful should we be? alex: first of all, thank you for having me on this morning. like many of your viewers, i spent the weekend reviewing the news, talking with friends and family and colleagues, and obviously, there's a lot of despair out there, rightfully so when you thing about how people are being impacted by this. but i've also got to say that there is some reason to be optimistic when i see some of the partnering and collaboration, and that is really what this is about this morning. our announcement about partnering with the u.s. government to accelerate the developing of our vaccine. and we to be thoughtful, are very hopeful as we look at our early data in these cases. it tends to be quite correlated with what we would expect to see as we take this into human testing in september, but we also need to complete those other trials. we will be do

maria: welcome back i am back with the ceo of johnson & johnson alex gorsky and i want to get to youraccine for coronavirus, you are going to be doing human trials, human clinical trials this november for covid-19, tell us about it. alex: the most important thing that we can do is stop the virus from occurring in the first phase. i want to highlight the efforts of our science system around the world who really back in late december or early january when we first found the underlying coded virus ramped up in a process that can take anywhere between 5 - 7 years and they were able to do it in a matter of weeks or months. we are working hard with partners around the world including the government, the fda, barter which is the organization responsible for vaccines in the united states and in europe, a collaborative way also with other academic institutions to do everything that we can to accelerate the development, we continue to run our different clinical trials and we expect to be starting up very soon likely within the next month and i think will have important data by the end of this y
