alex alex michaelson for around three alex. thank you so much. you and this is the california recall debate. this is not a republican primary debate, even though we've got a bunch of republicans on the stage, and if you look at polls right now, about 40 to 50% of california voters are undecided on who to pick on question number two on the ballot, which is who should replace governor newsom. we know democrats can vote on that question, even if they vote to try to keep governor newsom. we know there's a lot of democrats that are in favor of the recall. and so they're trying to figure out where do they go? there is not an establishment democrat on the ballot. and so i want to ask some questions that are important to democrats to get your take on on them. and assemblyman kylie, let's start with you. if senator feinstein were to retire. next year, you would be in charge of appointing her replacement. if you pick the republican. the republicans would get control of the united states senate. lot of democrats who would say she's a democrat, senator patty

alex michaelson shows us how the campaign to recall him is now heating up.let's vote no on this recall. let's vote no, governor gavin newsom urges union members and commerce to vote no on the recall. this is his first official anti recall campaign event in southern california, ballots are starting to arrive at the homes of every registered voter in the state. how do you see this? right well, we turn out our vote. we're going to win. overwhelmingly there are twice as many registered democrats than republicans in california. but recent polls show republicans more enthused about the recall and talk show host larry elder as the leading challenger among them. respect everybody puts their put themselves out into the political arena. but respectfully there's one candidate. on the other side names. larry elder the newsome team, highlighting elders past support for president trump. consider who will be there at the swearing end of larry elder people like kevin mccarthy. maybe trump himself will come out kind of judges. larry elder appoint the eu has already donated m

and with that calendar in mind, governor newsom spoke with alex michaelson for our political show. the issue is setting out his agenda for the year ahead. we just put together a comprehensive, detailed strategies first in state's history to deal with the issue. that's probably the most frustrating and vaccine issue of our times, and that's homelessness. $12 billion plan $3 billion for new mental health housing for conservatorships into place people that are severely mentally ill get them off the streets and encampment strategy to address all these encampments. we haven't been shy a 3.75 million commitment on affordable housing, housing agenda likes of which we've never had cleaning up our streets were transforming our public education system and we are combating climate change, leading the nation in terms of our low carbon strategies, so i think a lot is at stake. all of that gets set back quite literally, in many cases reversed if we don't turn out and vote no on the recall february. take a time and governor newsom is expected to get some help from washington, d. c as he campaigns
