ktvu alex savidge is live in the area to tell us what police are telling you about that victim.lex. >> reporter: good morning. santa rosa police are searching for the person who opened fire on a 19-year-old young man. they are trying to figure out why this happened. the shooting was inside of a home that is right across the street from us. you can see it is still an active crime scene. one inside this house called up 911 to report the shooting. when officers arrived they found the victim in the front room of the home with the gunshot wound to the head. this is on the 1200 block on marble court. police say the victim was a known gang member but they are trying to figure out if his affiliation was related to the homicide. detectives interviewed two teenagers last night that were at the home and possible witnesses but they were subsequently released. animal control officers responded to this home and took away at least two dogs. now police say they have seen their share of problems at this particular home. officers have responded out here for disturbances on a number of occasions.

alex savidge, ktvu channel 2 news. >> thank you, alex. >>> the arson suspect accused of lighting destructive fires around a san jose neighborhood is expected in court at 1:35. 48-year-old william parker brennan is being held on $1 million bail. he has a long history of starting fires. 15 years ago, ktvu news interviewed him after he was charged with starting several fires in the santa clara county foothills. investigators say brennan is linked to 12 recent fires, including last thursday's froir that destroyed a large warehouse. right now, bren nba is charged with starting two fires but that number may go up. >>> three men are under arrest accused of starting a fire in the national angeles forest. according to the forest service, more than 3500 people have been evacuated from their homes. the fire is 30% contained. >>> because of the dry conditions and unseasonably warm temperatures statewide, calfire has added 125 seasonal fires and are preparing for a long and busy fire season. >> move further into the summer months, the temperature will get higher. the humidity will get lower. in the past

ktvu's alex savidge is live at the concord b.a.r.t. station where it all happened to tell us about the unusual circumstances surrounding this situation. good afternoon, alex. >> reporter: well, good afternoon. investigators say this boy's clothes were soaked with gasoline and that's because he had been working on cars earlier on in the day. that's what led up to the bizarre accident. it was around 11:00. b.a.r.t. police say the teen was dropped off at the station. the person giving him a ride lit a cigarette inside the car. that spark ignited flamable vapors in the car and that triggered the fire. the teen jumped out of the car with his clothes on fire and ran to the station agent for help and ripped off his burning clothes. the fire was out by the time officers arrived on the scene. but this boy suffered serious burns to his arms and chest and had to be airlifted to valley medical center in san jose. b.a.r.t. police looking into exactly what happened and the circumstances here but at this point, they believe this simply was an acciden

ktvu's alex savidge joins us live from outside of the school. alex, what's happening on campus right now? >> reporter: well, the district is doing everything they can later today to support students during what is a very difficult time. that's why they will have school psychologists on the campus of mathew turner to help students who may want to talk about this arrest. a teacher here at this school accused of poisoning some of her fellow teachers with pot. investigators say first grade teacher teresa badger secretly served marijuana to her coworkers to an after-hours potluck. police say several people who attended the party became sick. one was hospitalized. police arrested badger on friday after a month and a half investigation. investigators have not said what the motive was here. ktvu tried over the weekend to get a comment from badger but we were unable to reach her. but she did obtain a letter that went out to parents here at mathew turner and in it, the district superintendent stresses that this party in question didn't happen on school gr

ktvu's alex savidge is in dublin now. where is the investigation standing right now. >> reporter: we expect to learn new details about this deadly shooting later on this morning from the alameda alameda county sheriff's office. the agency is piecing together what went wrong at this apartment complex. it was an operation that that ended with one b.a.r.t. police officer dead. it happened at 1:45 yesterday. as a group of officers all of them with bulletproof vests on were searching a unit here in this complex in connection with a robbery case. investigators say after they entered that apartment, with their guns drawn, one officer mistakenly fired a fatal shot. it hit 42-year-old sergeant tom smith. he died a short time later at the hospital. this morning, the san francisco chronicle is identifying the officer who shot him as michael maze, a ten-year veteran of the force. right now, sheriff's investigators are trying to figure out if he meant to fire his weapon or if it accidentally went off. >> that will be part of the accid

ktvu alex savidge is live in the area now to tell us what detectives know so far. good morning. >> reporter: good morning to you. santa rosa police sergeant told me a short time ago it is possible this homicide is gang related. the 911 call came in from this home. the place that is white with the blue trim. it was about 8:45 last night officers got here. that is where they discovered the man's body inside this home. right now crime scene technicians are still out here gathering evidence. investigators are treating this as a homicide. police have not offered up any details. but it appears he was shot to death. this is house is on the 1200 block of marble court. last night we saw animal control officers called out here. they took away two dogs from the home. police are still searching for the person responsible for this homicide. what would be santa rosa's third in the past three weeks. this home has seen its share of problems. he says officer tszs have respond -- officers have responded to his home for disturbances on several occasions recently. live this morning in

ktvu's alex savidge is at the concord b.a.r.t. station.hat's where it happened, alex. >> good morning. this strange accident happened while the victim was being dropped off by someone else here at the concord b.a.r.t. station. it was last night at about 11:00. b.a.r.t. police say this teenaged boy had gasoline on his clothes and that's because he had been fixing cars earlier on in the day. the person who was dropping the teenager off then lit a cigarette inside the car and police say that spark ignited flammable vapors in the air. that's what triggered this fire. the teenaged boy's clothes were on fire and burning as he jumped out of the car. the fire was put out by the time police officers arrived here at this scene. the boy did suffer burns to his arms and chest. he had to be airlifted down to valley medical center in san jose. the update we got this morning, according to a b.a.r.t. police sergeant, i was told the boy's injuries are not considered life-threatening. there is an investigate underway. at this point, police believe this was

ktvu's alex savidge is live near the antioch marina where the suspect was caught. alex?idnapped at gunpoint from right in front of her home last night, a witness spotted this little girl inside the accused kidnapper's car, which was parked here in the antioch marina parking lot. this is where ultimately police moved in and they were able to rescue the little girl. we are not identifying the victim any longer in this case, even though she was the subject of an amber alert last night, because it is unclear exactly what happened to her while she was missing. this morning, 43-year-old david douglas is behind bars, accused of kidnapping the girl from outside of her home. police say he followed the victim and her mother back from a nearby wal-mart around 8:00. investigators say douglas grabbed the girl, threatened her mother with a rifle, then drove off. police pulled surveillance video from the wal-mart store and got the license plates on that getaway car and an amber alert was issued for a tan toyota camry. several hours later, a woman spotted a car with a similar descriptio

live this morning in the oakland hills, alex savidge, ktvu channel 2 news. >>> 7:05. happening today -- community members get their chance to speak in front of the santa rosa city council about the shooting death of andy lopez by a sheriff's deputy. this will be the first time the city council has welcomed public statements about the shooting of the 13-year-old back in october. a planned city council meeting after the shooting had to be canceled because of safety concerns. investigators say the sheriff's deputy shot lopez because he was holding a bb gun that looked like an assault rifle and he ignored orders to put it down. now, today's meeting comes after a sonoma county task force created after the lopez shooting met last night for the first time. task force members are hoping this will unite the community. >> my goal is that we have a completely open dialogue, that we're willing to compromise and that we realize we have an opportunity to do something truly, truly beneficial for sonoma county. >> the task force meets again on january 26th. they will make recommendat
