ktvu alex savidge is live in the area to tell us what police are telling you about that victim.lex. >> reporter: good morning. santa rosa police are searching for the person who opened fire on a 19-year-old young man. they are trying to figure out why this happened. the shooting was inside of a home that is right across the street from us. you can see it is still an active crime scene. one inside this house called up 911 to report the shooting. when officers arrived they found the victim in the front room of the home with the gunshot wound to the head. this is on the 1200 block on marble court. police say the victim was a known gang member but they are trying to figure out if his affiliation was related to the homicide. detectives interviewed two teenagers last night that were at the home and possible witnesses but they were subsequently released. animal control officers responded to this home and took away at least two dogs. now police say they have seen their share of problems at this particular home. officers have responded out here for disturbances on a number of occasions.

ktvu's alex savidge is live at the concord b.a.r.t. station where it all happened to tell us about the unusual circumstances surrounding this situation. good afternoon, alex. >> reporter: well, good afternoon. investigators say this boy's clothes were soaked with gasoline and that's because he had been working on cars earlier on in the day. that's what led up to the bizarre accident. it was around 11:00. b.a.r.t. police say the teen was dropped off at the station. the person giving him a ride lit a cigarette inside the car. that spark ignited flamable vapors in the car and that triggered the fire. the teen jumped out of the car with his clothes on fire and ran to the station agent for help and ripped off his burning clothes. the fire was out by the time officers arrived on the scene. but this boy suffered serious burns to his arms and chest and had to be airlifted to valley medical center in san jose. b.a.r.t. police looking into exactly what happened and the circumstances here but at this point, they believe this simply was an acciden

ktvu's alex savidge is at the concord b.a.r.t. station.hat's where it happened, alex. >> good morning. this strange accident happened while the victim was being dropped off by someone else here at the concord b.a.r.t. station. it was last night at about 11:00. b.a.r.t. police say this teenaged boy had gasoline on his clothes and that's because he had been fixing cars earlier on in the day. the person who was dropping the teenager off then lit a cigarette inside the car and police say that spark ignited flammable vapors in the air. that's what triggered this fire. the teenaged boy's clothes were on fire and burning as he jumped out of the car. the fire was put out by the time police officers arrived here at this scene. the boy did suffer burns to his arms and chest. he had to be airlifted down to valley medical center in san jose. the update we got this morning, according to a b.a.r.t. police sergeant, i was told the boy's injuries are not considered life-threatening. there is an investigate underway. at this point, police believe this was
