it is a story of alex scott born to his parents, liz and jay, and 1996. a type of childhood cancer. doctors told her parents that it was doubtful that she could beat the cancer, and even if she did she probably would never be able to walk again. but her fighting spirit proved everybody wrong, and by her second birthday she was crawling, able to stand up with leg braces and learning hard -- working hard to learn how to walk again. the tumors are growing again. at the time she was barely four years old. during treatment she told her mother that when she got out she wanted to have a lemonade stand. young alex wanted to give the money she made to doctors so they could help other children who were like her. she stayed true to our word and had her first lemonade stand later that year raising $2,000 for the hospital she was treated at. she continued her brave battle against cancer while her family continued to hold yearly lemonade stands to benefit her in the front yard and giles had cancer research. news spread of for remarkable story of commitment to helping o

it was founded by alex scott, a student at the school. i was also a student at that elementary school. alex was diagnosed with cancer just before her first birthday. she died a t the age of 8. alex's lemonade stand foundation has raised more than $80 million to help fight pediatric cancer. >>> yesterday nbc 10 was also at the seventh annual festival at park west town center in west philly. hundreds gathered for the event which included face painting and pony rides. what else? the goal of the free festival is to bring businesses and the community together. >>> a warm weekend to go for a swim. here in allen town, two of the city's public pools officially opened this weekend for the summer season. cedar beach and mac pools were a popular spot to be yesterday. the weather couldn't have been better for it. the city's pools are open to the public daily from noon until 7:00 in the evening. jordan and irving pools in allentown will open next saturday. >>> it was a special tribute for a fallen navy s.e.a.l. nearly three years after his death. nbc 1
