alex. >> thanks, thomas. we are following breaking news out of the nation's capital where four people shot and one confirmed dead after a gunman opened fire at the washington naval yard around 8:20 this morning. the shooting took place inside naval systems command center where 3,000 people go to work every day. nbc is confirming the suspect is dead. three victims arrived at washington center, one of whom is a police officer. at a press conference moments ago a washington hospital officials said the three victims all have a very good chance of survival. the victims are all alert and have been able to communicate. at present five d.c. schools are put on lockdown and we're waiting for a press conference from d.c. police as well as remarks from president obama. nbc's pete williams joins me now. pete, there has been back and forth about whether or not there's one shooter, possibly two shooters, maybe even three shooters. do you have any updates on that. >> the best information we have is there's only one. it's und
