i want to get straight to our alexandra field who's in fall river, massachusetts. she's been inside the courtroom all day. also with me here in new york, danny cevallos and paul callan. alex, how significant is this video? >> reporter: poppy, the prosecution was dead set on making sure the jury saw this video. they had to fight for it for some months now. today is the first time that any of us have seen this. it wasn't shown during opening statements or any previous hearings. this is also the first time the jury saw it. what you see is a video that was recorded from a surveillance camera that was placed on the north attleboro police department on the exterior of that building. the camera is manned by a north attleboro detective who testifies he controlled the camera. he panned and zoomed into aaron hernandez who was parked in the north parking lot of the attleboro police department several hours after the body of odin lloyd was found. the detective says he zooms in to hernandez to see what hernandez was doing in the car. he testifies he watches hernandez break his

joining us, cnn's alexandra fiel field. also joining us, rene marsh. it happened at 5:55 a.m. pacific time. a little bit before the morning rush. >> a commuter train that was potentially packed full of people headed to work this morning. what we're hearing right now from first responders on the ground is they actually finished the search of train cars and accounted for all of the passengers onboard that train. what they're telling us is they discovered no fatalities. at least 30 people were injured. we don't know the extent of these injuries. when you look at these images and see cars tossed off the track, you have to imagine this could have been a violent experience for anyone inside those cars. john, you can see there right on the screen at least three of the cars that came off the tracks completely on their sides. this happened when the train collided with a large truck that was on the tracks. the truck as you can see there reported to have erupted into a ball of flames. the driver was not in that truck. a local battalion chief telling cnn that the driver had actually fled

alexandra field is on the story. if you can, bring us up to date. there's been a bit of confusion as to what happened. regardless, a horrific scene going on in this small town. >> so many pieces on how the crime scene fits together. this started when a juvenile female as police identified her made a phone call to police. she reported hearing gunshots. she then fled to a neighbor's house. when officers responded, they found two bodies inside the home and then they go to several other residence and they find five more people all shot to death in three different houses. they go to another house where they find an elderly woman who is also dead but they say it appears that she died of natural causes. they later move onto find the suspect who died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in his car. we do not know how this elderly woman fits into this picture but at this point police don't want to rule out whether or not she's related to the crime spree that unfolded in tyrone, missouri, overnight. they are looking at these four homes where all of these people

joining me alexandra smith, national chair of the republican national committee.rning. >> thank you for having me on jose. >> start with your picks. who is your best bet for a 2016 nominee? >> you know, i honestly think our college republicans have come with an open heart, open mind. some sat 15 hours on a bus to get here so they're definitely here to hear more than one candidate. i don't think a lot of them put on a jersey yet for one candidate. that said crs have been very engaged at events we hosted with the various candidates really listening to what they have to say about the youth vote in particular. >> and at the beginning of the election cycle, your group did a survey of young voters to find out why they weren't voting republican. you found it is an issue of branding. how does the party fix that? >> so we found in our 2013 research, which was supported by further research in 2014 was that young voters agreed with us in principle, they agreed with a more limited government but what they weren't doing is connecting that core principle to the republican party
