brianne carter joins us in alexandria with the latest. >> good morning. we understand from authorities that it was a tip that came in at the national center for missing and exploited children that allow detectives to locate the now 12-year-old girl in our area. we understand detectives calling upon the tips were able to locate the mother identified as 39-year-old maria cano in the sterling neighborhood. we understand according to authorities it was in its february of 2006 that the 6- year-old child was reported missing by her father. at the time it was suspected the mother had taken the child and left the country. they believed at the time there were in a stolen silver 2004 dodge neon that was never recovered. now we know they were located in. sterling in the mother maria is now being held in the loudoun county detention center without bond waiting to be extradited back to california. authorities tell us it's on charges of child concealment and grand theft. the young child is now waiting to be reunited with her father. reporting from alexandria, brianne c
