let's get over to alexis smith. it's definitely going to be challenging for a lot of us today. >> we've got a major problem in the east bay right now. this is now a sig alert. multi-car crash on westbound 580. this is actually just before you get to harrison. it initially was reported around the 980 merge. not sure about injuries yet but it doesn't sound great. sounds like one vehicle lost control, spun out, that person got out of the vehicle and that car was hit. several vehicles are involved now, probably between three and five so emergency crews on the way to the scene. all lanes blocked. we do not have an estimate for when we'll get any lanes back up at this point. chp recommending that you should use 880 for an alternate. if you're closer to the oakland hills, 13 to 24 will get you around this as well if you're heading to the bay bridge. but tough start. we knew it would probably be tough today as well. we've got tough driving conditions. here's a look at the bay bridge. high wind advisory for that commute toda

let's get over to alexis smith. >> we want to take you to sky 7. this is video from half an hour ago outside of the civic center b.a.r.t. station where the investigation lasted for around an hour. we got word of the suspicion device around 9:30 this morning and they deemed it nonthreatening and they were able to get things moving again by 10:30 but that means a full hour that we have civic center station totally shut down and that meant no b.a.r.t. stations could get by. and let's flip over to the traffic maps and i'll show you what that did and that impact that had with civic center closed. anybody coming from the east bay o san francisco down to the peninsula toward sfo, you are not able to get by civic center station. that was not safe. same thing, just the opposite, coming up from the peninsula trying to get past civic center into san francisco or the east bay. that is not happening either. so now they are. but if you are in a time you may not want to risk it. uber and lyft and if you could drive yourself, that is a better option. and it will t
