alfonso van marsh, cbs news. >> a forth rabbi also died in the assault, a dual british- israeli citizen. israel's prime minister has ordered authorities to destroy the homes of the suspected attackers. >>> he went from practicing the law to being charged with breaking it. this afternoon a judge sent 31- year-old andrew schmuhl back behind bars. he's charged with carrying out a violent home invasion in mclean, virginia with his wife. delia goncalves is in the fairfax county courtroom when his bail was denied. >> reporter: the defense attorney wanted his client released from jail saying andrew schmuhl did not pose a flight risk because he has mobility issues from a spinal cord injury he suffered when he was in the army. but prosecutors were not buying that argument saying he certainly did not have any mobility issues when he carried out his three-hour attack last week. prosecutors say andrew schmuhl posed as a police officer when he and his wife, alecia, forced their way into her former boss' home out to get revenge for her firing. 61-year-old leo fisher is a prominent arlington attorney.

but as alfonso van marsh reports, israel's prime minister is promising a powerful response. >> reporter: worshipers are praying again in the synagogue where two palestinian men killed five people, including three rabbis born in america. >> we just have to continue doing what we believe in. >> reporter: the attackers burst into the synagogue tuesday armed with a gun and meat cleaver during morning prayers. israeli police killed the two palestinians in a shootout. one officer died from his injuries. in east jerusalem, palestinians put up posters of the two men hailing them as martyrs. but the father of one of the attackers says he can't believe it. i did not think at any time that my son would do such a thing, he says. israeli prime minister benjamin netanyahu has ordered authorities to destroy the killers' homes and is promising tougher action to stop palestinian attacks. israeli security forces demolished the house of a palestinian who killed a woman and american baby when he rammed his car into a train station last month. tensions are high across the region with palestinians and israel
