that is how we should do it here, in bayview, hunter's point and alice griffin. that is what i got taught with my good friend. he came here and taught double rock. [laughter] >> we cleaned up out here, and we know people refer to this place. there is pride where people live. no matter what the condition is, there is pride. all we want is for people to feel the hope, to rebuild, to restructure, to gain new relationships. that is how we get out of poverty. that is how we transform or kids' hope in this city. create new relationships, the new relationships that our housing authority is there for, and the redevelopment committee. i want to thing the commissioners and others for your commitment. a new revised committee working with everybody. [applause] ted hunt, angelo king, thank you very much for your project and committee leadership in being here. roberta, thank you for not only being here. your guidance constantly, you have never given up. you have been automobile over the place, but you are here giving us the guy ands and the policy level we will not forget. tha

many successes going on and we shared some tears with him a few weeks ago when we announced the alice griffin from neighborhood choice program. we knew that that, along with college track, and his droction droction -- direction in getting this building and his leadership not only in redevelopment -- work with our school district, working with city college, working with san francisco state university, working with the private sector. he's crowning so many things before he leaves to be the deputy city administrator in oakland. i want to thank you, fred, for all your wonderful leadership and your commitment here. [applause] i know that college is going to be a reflection of everyone's success here and from the years that i worked in upward bound to now, i want to congratulate the kids who are here right now. because, guess what, not only have you joined a very successful program that will work very hard on your behalf to deal with things like academic affairs, college affairs, student aid, to get you where you need to have a sustainable economic forecasting so that you can be successful there, b

we are going to rebuild that housing with those neighbors on site and residents of alice griffin participating in the building of their housing. that is how you get strong communities. that is how even our chief says the other programs aren't worki working, your job will be 10 times harder. so building strong communities in my opinion will contribute a long way to prevention and we are fortune with leader pelosi and feinstein to get that grant in the right way. one reason they chose us is because of the integration we have working directly with the residents who have been victimized many years. they get to build their housing with us as a partnership. >> just one final comment. the a.g. is on her way up. one thing we're trying to do on the federal level is to have the various federal agencies approve funds so you can get funds from hud at the same time there might be a justice dimension, an education dimension and h.h.s. dimension. common r.f.p., common outcomes so you are not fighting for individual grants all the time. again, thank you, mayors, thank all of you. you can stretch. she will be
