i'm alicia menendez.gip with the economy and the jobs report out this morning that could upend the president's economic agenda. the question is whether last month's poor job's report was a fluke or the beginning of a trend. economists had predicted about 680,000 new jobs were created in may, but yesterday private pay roll company adp reported almost a million new hires last month. economists are also optimistic after learning that unemployment benefits fell to 385,000 for the final week of may. the first time claims have fallen below 400,000 since the pandemic began. alarm bells rang last month when the labor department reported 266,000 new hires when a million were expected. the disappointing number led to debate over whether the pandemic era extension of unemployment benefits were holding back payrolls. on tuesday maryland became the 25th state all led by republicans to end the biden-backed benefits. the biden administration is ramping up its response to cyberattacks after a recent wave of hacks cripple
