i started working for the city about nine years ago for supervisor alioto-pier, and one of the first things we worked on together was proposition i that we took to the voters that included the creation of the small business assistance center, and really aimed to dedicate more resources to small businesses. and i consider myself incredibly fortunate to have worked with some of you directly. some of you worked indirectly worked with regina many years, to. worked with commissioner e. rely on the formation of the small business revolving loan fund. obviously to have worked with commissioner dwight on the sf made collaborative. commissioner dooley and i have worked together on numerous measures that have come before this commission over the years and it's really been a pleasure to oftentimes work in the early stages of a program or a concepts and shepherd them, help give them some form and launch them and hand them over to folks who really spend their lives day in and day out working with small business. the neighborhood economic development work that the office of economic and workforce

i worked out -- >> unfortunately with two minutes i have to cut mayor alioto off. but that was phase one of the street artist program. we're in phase two right now with the arts commission and we've seen mismanagement and negative. i have a background in business. i was a manager of many body shops, and what i've southeastern in this street artist program is absolute neglect of best practices. they don't know what they are. i would suggest one thing, i'd like to say is, in their last district two, they say that the street artist make $4 million a year. that's what we earn. well if you take 400 members and divide it into $4 million, that's $10,000 apiece. that's under the poverty level. we pay the arts commission $300,000 so we are under the poverty level. it has to be changed. and i support the change to the small business organization. thank you. >> president farrell: thank you very much. next speaker come on up. >> i submitted a statement to you guys get it? >> president farrell: speak into the microphone. >> did you get it? did you read it? paula davis. you read

it was previously mayor newsom's seat and supervisor alioto- pier's seat. i did not get into politics because i had a lifelong ambition of being a politician. that is not me. i came from a private sector, and looking at honestly answering the question -- did i have something different to offer that i thought would be valuable to sanford's is go right now? i do think a large part of our problems in the city are financial, economic. with my background, i did think i would be able to add a lot of value, and that is why i decided to get into politics. >> where do you place yourself on the political spectrum? >> i have to say, i'm one that has been trying to get away from the political spectrum dialogue in san francisco. i would just say, generically, i think i am in the middle. i'm a moderate person. nationally, i think we are a little bit left in san francisco, but i think i am a socially liberal person. that is what i tend to practice what i preach. >> what did you learn campaigning for supervisor, and was there anything that surprised you? >> that is a great
